Vend Guesthouse

Half-hidden among the trees, the Vend Guest house can be reached only from a graveled road. At the feet of the Alps the location is marked by coniferous forests with wild animals, green pastures, brilliant sunshine, fresh air, and wellness centers. The house is located in a tiny village near the Austrian-Slovenian border. From one side it is surrounded by pine trees, from the other by a long green pasture, running from the veranda with far reaching views down through the valley and up to the nearest neighbour a half mile away. It is set far from all clamour of the city, yet is fully equipped – a luxurious resort in a beautiful and intact region. With 6 bedrooms the house provides accommodation for 14 guests. It is equipped with a Finnish sauna and cold water tub; a game room, awaiting the guests with a pool table, table soccer, and a poker table (numerous board games, poker and mah jong set); the storeroom is prepared for table tennis or darts matches. Also sets of badminton, croquet and pétanque are available. The artificial swimming lake, the volleyball court belonging to the property, and the soccer field next to it complete the list. Computer, broadband Internet access and sat. TV ensure that rural won't mean isolated too. The house is a uniquely designed holiday resort (created by renowned architect Laszlo Vincze (Website hidden by Airbnb) and interior designer Renata Roth) located in the heart of the Őrség. The name of the region refers to the traditional guarding role of the locals, overseeing the country's frontiers. The area's special location (situated on a triple border, at the feet of the Alps) grants exceptional features not only to the locale's flora and fauna (a mix of evergreens, and perennials), the weather conditions (alternating between very sunny summer with showers, and snowy winters), but also to its cultural life (being a melting pot of Hungarian, Austrian and Slovenian features). The house is managed by our caretaker, Zoltan, who has been with us since 2005. He maintains the house and tends our lands in addition to looking after the guests. Furthermore, one of the four owners are always available on the phone, 24/7 and are happy to answer any questions or arrange anything necessary at your request. The neighbourhood is beyond quiet, perhaps the greatest appeal of the house is that our closest neighbour is approximately a mile away. Renting the house means that you have it to yourself and thus your stay will be completely unharbored. There are plenty of things to see and discover in the region. Furthermore, Austria and Slovenia are within a stone's throw, and you can get to the gorgeus city of Graz in 45min and to Vienna in 2hrs. There is a multitude of activites you can do from visiting the 5-6 Slovenian and Austrian spa-s nearby, to riding horses, playing golf, going skiing, hunting, etc. You can request information on this from the owners upon your arrival. The region is ideal for cycling with its gentle slopes and rolling hills. Whilst you would preferably have a car for grocery runs, you can also get around by bike, of which we provide a few. There are also buses leaving from the village next to us, which go to Szentgotthard, the nearest town. Szentgotthard, 10mins from us by car, has plenty of restaurants, pubs, pharmacy, medical centre, dentist, several supermarkets and other shops, a small cinema, and essentially all what you may require during your stay. The house itself was built on the concept of hospitality. The original owner's idea was a space that is suitable for large groups of friends gathering for long vacation periods in the midst of dazzling natural surroundings with numerous options to cook, play, talk, or relax.
