The Roundhouse: cosy cottage in private woodlands

The Roundhouse is situated in extensive woodlands and on the edge of open countryside. Built in 2018, it is finished to a high specification with wood-burning stove and big windows with views of the Campsie Hills and open countryside. The Roundhouse is an ideal base to explore the Trossachs, Loch Lomond and Bute & Arran and is really close to Glasgow and half an hour from Edinburgh by train. There are two other cottages on site which, when booked together offer accommodation for 14. This warm, wooden and stone-clad cottage sits in beautiful gardens and woodland at the foot of the Campsie hills. The open plan living, dining, kitchen area has a central stove with brick feature wall and hand-made dining furniture. There is a double room with king size bed and a twin room. The family bathroom has a separate shower and bath. The cottage has level access and an accessible bathroom. Outside is a garden area which is part of a larger woodland estate, which you are welcome to explore, with beautiful burn and bluebell wood. The area around is gorgeous rural countryside at the foot of the Campsies, with fantastic walking and cycling on the doorstep, but is also close to Glasgow and 10 minutes drive from Croy station where trains every half-hour will take you to Edinburgh. It is well placed for exploring central Scotland including Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, and exploring further afield. Upper Woodburn is 20 minutes’ drive north of Glasgow at the foot of the Campsie Hills and has plenty of parking. There is a bus stop at the end of the drive on the half-hourly 89 bus route from Buchanan Street Bus station in Central Glasgow. Croy station on the Edinburgh-Glasgow train line is a 15 minute taxi ride away. Guests can check in independently and at any time that suits them after 330pm on the day of arrival. The owners are available by phone for any queries and also are close by if you need assistance in person. The cottage is situated in extensive garden and woodlands grounds which guests are welcome to walk in. You can access the Campsie hills direct from the woods for more extensive walks from the doorstep. The towpath on the Forth & Clyde canal is only 2 miles away which is ideal for cycle day-trips and connects with the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. For day-trips it is a half-hour drive to the Trossachs and Loch Lomond and the cities of Glasgow Edinburgh and Stirling are all within very easy reach. The station is around 10 minutes away and trains every half-hour run to Glasgow (in 20 mins) and Edinburgh (in 30 mins). There are two other cottages at Upper Woodburn which are perfect for family gatherings and sleep 14 in total.
