Private entrance and parking. Minutes to everything outdoors. A kitchenette includes fridge, toaster oven, microwave, coffee maker, complimentary coffee / teas, small blender, and electric tea pot. Outside gas grill and SoloStove for fire-pitting included. Also see Adys True South, my other listing. This is a secluded and private refuge for those seeking safe getaways during the Pandemic. This unique studio apartment includes private parking, a private entrance, a bedroom / sitting room with a queen bed, a master bathroom and a kitchenette for light meal prep and cooking. This listing is attached to, but securely blocked off from, the main dwelling. This is an owner occupied property, with 24/7 assistance available. More details: If you are interested in relaxing by night and playing by day, this location can't be beat. We're minutes from it all. The studio is just seconds off the beaten path of Rt. 73, near the junction of Rt. 73 and Rt. 9N in Keene, is 5 minutes to Keene Valley, and is only 15 minutes from Lake Placid. Come relax in an upscale, lower level accommodation with a private entrance and parking. This rare find offers guests a locked bike / gear storage area, and a large south facing deck with Adirondack chairs. The studio includes the use of recycled and re-purposed materials which create a unique ambiance. Amenities include a microwave, coffee maker, electric tea pot, mini fridge and toaster. Please note: There is no hot plate or heating surfaces. The studio also includes a small shower area, a sitting room, and cable TV. Keene/Keene Valley offer the following restaurants, shops, and cafés: The 46 Restaurant; The Ice Jam; NoonMark Diner; Old Mountain Coffee; Rivermead Farm Market; East Branch Organics Craft Brew and Liquors; Cedar Run Bakery & Liquor Store; Baxter Mountain Tavern; Ausable Inn & Liquor Store; Valley Grocery; the Mountaineer; Birch Store; and DartBrook Dry Goods + DartBrook South. Well water is served daily from the tap! There's no need to purchase bottled water for your stay, unless you absolutely love that taste. Self check-in and check-out is provided. If your stay is shorter than 7 days, your cost is inclusive of the required Essex County taxes of Sales Tax: 7.75%, and Occupancy Tax 3%, as well as a cleaning fee. The lower level is accessible through a stairwell attached to a house, and located within a private residence. The private residence is not available for use and is owner occupied. Guests have access to free parking, and a common area including a the south facing back deck, Adirondack chairs, and an outdoor grill with utensils provided social distancing is adhered to. A Solo Stove is available for fire pitting. We are available 24/7 via phone, text or email. We live on site and are available if you need anything. However, we put a high value on your privacy and are around at your request only. While staying here, you have awesome access to hiking a handful of the Adirondack High Peaks. We are minutes from trail heads such as Blueberry and Porter, The Dixes, Giant and Rocky Peak Ridge, and the Johns Brook Valley. There is a Shuttle that leaves from The Blueberry Trailhead parking lot next to Marcy Airfield for trips up to the Garden. Please check the Town of Keene website for the most up to date shuttle schedule. AMR now requires parking reservations. Plan ahead. If you are a Nordic ski addict or just enjoy getting out in the fresh air on skinny skis, Mt Van Ho is 12 minutes away. The trail system is extensive and some trails are so challenging that the Russians complained about their difficulty in the 1980 Olympics (referred to as the Russian Complaint). Whiteface - another Olympic Venue. You can get there in about 12 minutes and be on the Gondola in 15 if you find the right parking place! Whiteface has the most vertical in the East, and exceptional out of bound Slide skiing. Buy your tickets in advance, online, and save some money. How about cycling? You can take off right out of the driveway and ride for a 100 miles on the Lake Placid Ironman Course, or explore some bad ass roads with new pavement and zero traffic. I can help map out routes for you. If you'd like to take a relaxing walk along a NYS designated, Wild and Scenic River, walk down the driveway and you are on your way. Daily passes are available by request in advance for Keene Fitness, and True North Yoga Studio. Just ask me about them in advance and I'll have the passes ready for you. $15 / session. The list goes on of things to do and places to go. I love to explore, and I've packed a lot of it in the 2 decades I've been here. And I love turning people on to our playground. So if you had something in mind for an epic adventure, just ask and I'm sure we can cook up a day that you'll remember for awhile. There is no public transportation in these parts. Fuel: Gas prices in Keene at our lovely Stewarts are insane. It's best to purchase gas in Elizabethtown, Ausable Forks or Lake Placid if possible. When you are departing and traveling South (NY, Boston), the next available gas station once you are on the Northway is Exit 28 (Schroon Lake). If you are traveling North, Exit 31 has gas but it's extremely expensive. If you can hold out to Plattsburgh, you'll save yourself some money. Local groceries: There really aren't any! The closest grocery is in Elizabethtown (Tops) or Lake Placid (Price Chopper or Hannafords). I would recommend bringing your basic supplies with you from home, if possible, to avoid the hassle of hunting and gathering while you're here. There is also the Valley Grocery and Rivermead Farm Stand in Keene Valley. In Keene, Cedar Run Bakery sells pre-made, homemade, frozen dinners and soups. Looking for breakfast and coffee? Try Old Mountain Coffee in Keene Valley. Other spots: The 46 serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Baxter Mountain Tavern provides lunch and dinner. Visit the Noonmark Diner for breakfast, and the Ausable Inn for cocktails and dinner. The Birch Store is a personal favorite for women's and men's clothing. Dartbrook Rustic Goods and Big Crow Trading are cool places to shop for gifts and house furnishings. Caution: The driveway in the winter - Check in with host about snow / freezing rain / local conditions before your arrival. The driveway is maintained at all times but still can be tricky during storms or after heavy snow accumulation.
