Stanthorpe lies at the heart of “The Granite Belt” region, which extends for 50km north from the border of New South Wales. The town is surrounded by large granite outcrops, which can be seen as you drive through the countryside, visiting the many farms and vineyards, tasting and gathering local supplies to enjoy during your stay. A complimentary bottle of wine will be provided for you upon arrival. You can choose from either sparkling, white, or red wine. A charming but fully functioning kitchen boasts a gas cooker, large fridge, dishwasher, a large pantry for food storage, generous tea and coffee making facilities, and basic provisions such as oil, salt and pepper, and some spices and sauces. There is a beautiful big dining table for you to share meals with your friends and loved ones. . Providing two living area spaces, 2 bedrooms with queen sized beds and hanging space for your clothes. The light filled sunroom has a small lounge that folds out to a small double bed. The space is complete with shelves containing books and games for you to use while you stay. A lovely afternoon escape.. A bbq and large undercover outdoor dining area, with a large and comfortable outdoor dining table has been designed for you to enjoy the sunset over the Granite Hills in the distance. Beautifully appointed bedrooms, main has an ensuite attached. A second main bathroom is located to accomodate living areas as well. There is a laundry and clothesline and cosy linens and towels are provided. The two working fireplaces provide warmth and ambience and firewood will be provided for guests to use from May through to early November. A reverse cycle air conditioner for heating and cooling will meet your needs in between seasons. A deep verandah at the front of the house is a lovely spot to sit and relax day or night. A smart TV in the lounge room has the ability for you to steam from your personal streaming accounts. Bluetooth speaker, a CD and tape player, radio, and record player in the sitting room. Wifi is available throughout the home. Plenty of exclusive use indoor and outdoor spaces for chilling solo or enjoying with company. You will have the entire property to yourself. If you need anything during your stay, you will be able to contact us via phone or email. The area is unusually cold for Queensland, with the average minimum temperature in July being 0.3 degrees Celsius. The area is known for cold climate apples, grapes, and stone fruits, as well as warm wood fires, delicious wines, beers, ciders, and local produce. The town is set amongst heritage buildings, parks and green-lands, with walking tracks, and several cycling trails varying in length and difficulty. The locals are warm and welcoming; there are weekly markets where farmers sell their locally grown organic produce and meats. Both Girraween, and Sundown National Park can be accessed from Stanthorpe during your stay, allow some time to explore and experience the awe inspiring granite outcrops, consisting of angular tors and precarious boulders. Sundown National Park has a spectacular landscape of gorges, sharp ridges, and peaks over 1000 metres. Girraween is closer to Stanthorpe, and can be accessed with a two-wheel drive. The name Girraween is an Aboriginal name meaning “place of flowers”. The park is well known for its spectacular displays of wildflowers during the spring months, with some flowers continuing to grow throughout summer. Girraween is also a great place to dip your toes or have a swim, provided there has been enough rain. Scenic driving by car and simple bike routes will take you to many local businesses, produce, attractions, wineries, breweries, along with ciderys. Local shops, pubs and restaurants are a gentle 5-10 min walk. Ample parking also available. Vehicle access to rear of the cottage which has room to turn your car so you can drive out rather than reverse onto a busy road. One space undercover in garage. Self check in lock box is also at rear.
