Double room in 18th century cottage
My cosy, inviting cottage is the perfect base for a West Country break, with lovely walks straight from the door, and easy access to Bath (20 mins by car) and Stonehenge (45 mins). The picturesque village has two great pubs and a popular deli cafe. My house is in the conservation area of a picture-postcard Somerset village, and, with its winding staircase, wooden beams and exposed floor boards, is a real step back in time - but with all mod cons, including wi-fi! The guest room, on the second floor, can accommodate up to two people. It is very light and warm - the prettiest room in the house. There is a small, flower-filled courtyard off the kitchen, where breakfast can be served on warm summer mornings - otherwise, it will be in the bright and welcoming kitchen/dining room. Breakfast is continental, including home-made jams, croissants and cereals, or cooked, by prior arrangement. Happy also to cater for any special dietary requirements, by arrangement. Guests have access to the kitchen/dining room and, if they wish, can prepare their own meals for a small additional charge of £5 per meal. The washing machine can also be used at a small extra cost. The bathroom is shared and has a large, comfortable bath and a good shower. It's lovely to chat with my guests, but I also realise that sometimes you want 'you' time - so I'm happy either way. My cottage is the perfect base for a West Country break. It's within an easy drive to the Georgian city of Bath, to Stonehenge, Glastonbury, and to local attractions such as Longleat House and Safari Park and Stourhead. Local towns include Frome, just five or six minutes away, with its arty, bohemian atmosphere, cafes, vintage shops, and regular markets for everything from antiques to local produce. There are wonderful countryside walks both directly from the village, and beyond - with walking guides to borrow from the owner. There are lots of excellent local restaurants (again, plenty of ideas available from the owner), while in the village itself, there are two pubs and a very popular cafe, plus an award-winning farm shop. There are railway stations with regular services to Bath, Bristol and Salisbury in the close-by towns of Frome, Westbury and Trowbridge, and a regular bus service in the village to Bath, Frome, Trowbridge and other major towns. Roadside parking outside the cottage is free and safe. For cyclists, bikes can be left safely in the hallway.
