Sandstone Cottage, Great Mackerel Beach

This sandstone cottage is one of the original cottages on Mackerel Beach. Set on the absolute beach front, North East facing and receiving sun all day long, this gorgeous property has a main house and separate studio with 3 bedrooms comfortably accommodating 8 people. It is just 10 metres from the water and 60 minutes from Sydney CBD. The house has a prime beach front location and is situated on a double section enjoying uninterrupted views of the Pittwater, Lion Island, Barrenjoey Heads and Palm Beach. The main bedroom is the house has a queen size bed and large window that looks out over Pittwater - you go to sleep listening to the waves of the ocean and wake up to the most spectacular sunrises over Barrenjoey Heads. There is also a bunk room with 2 sets of bunks which is perfect for the kids (and even the adults). The Tree House, which is a separate studio from the main house, has a queen bed, single bed, its own bathroom and sliding doors onto a private balcony. The house is perfect for 2 families or a group of friends. The kitchen, dining and living room is open plan, opening out onto the deck which has sweeping views of Pittwater and beyond. The kitchen features concrete bench tops, wooden cupboards and a large double sink. It is fully equipped with all the appliances and utensils you would need during your stay, such as an fridge, induction stove top, oven, microwave, Nespresso machine, soda stream, blender, pots & pans plus more. There is also a 6 burner BBQ which guests are welcome to use. There are multiple areas on our property where you can relax and take in the serenity of the area. The front deck has table and chairs to sit 8+ guests comfortably underneath a 6m long awning. The 2nd level has 2 deck chairs and is the most spectacular area to catch some sun. The Tree House has its own deck with table, chairs and deck chairs as well. There is a large flat screen TV in the living room that has Foxtel plus a sound bar, stereo and DVD player. The house is surrounded by a national park meaning Mackerel Beach is accessible only by water, but is serviced on an hourly basis by ferry as well as water taxi and barge services. The beach is extremely safe for children and is suitable for a number of water sports including fishing. There are wonderful bush walks through the national park and an abundance of wild life. You will have complete access to all areas of the house and should you have any issues we are always a phone call away. All sheets and towels are provided, plus pantry goods like oils, condiments, salt, pepper, tea and coffee. We do not live on Mackerel Beach but are only a phone call away should you need anything. You will need to catch the ferry or book a water taxi/ barge in order to get across to Mackerel Beach. The ferry leaves on the hour from Palm Beach Wharf on Barrenjoey Rd, returning on the half an hour from Mackerel. Check the timetable as the occasional ferry goes direct to Mackerel, rather than via Coasters, the Basin etc... To order a water taxi call the number listed in the information sheet that we will send to you. Bookings are essential ahead of time. You will want to bring your walking shoes as there are some divine bush walks through the national park and down the valley. There are no shops on Mackerel Beach so you will need to bring up your own food and beverages. As noted above, there are pantry goods like oils, condiments, salt, pepper, tea and coffee which you are welcome to use. All sheets and bath towels are provided for your stay. Unfortunately no cats are to be bought onto Mackerel Beach and if you wish to bring your dog, it must be secured within the property on a lead at ALL times. The dog can be exercised off lead on the Northern end of the beach before 9am and after 5pm. The house is run off water tanks, so it would be great if you can use the water sparingly. We would appreciate you using the black tub in the sink to rinse your dishes and then throwing it on the plants when it gets full.
