Rural Artist's studio 15 Mins to Kirra beach
'The Studio' is a self contained 'Tiny Home' style space, nestled next to 'Cobaki Cottage', in the beautiful Southern Gold Coast/Tweed Heads region. Surrounded by farmland, The Studio is under 15 mins drive from Gold Coast Airport, Coolangatta & Kirra beach. The Studio was originally designed as an Artist's retreat and creative space for our family here in Cobaki Cottage. It is self contained, combining a mix of rustic charm, antique heirlooms and comfortable amenities. The simple kitchenette is equipped with fridge, microwave, a single convection cooktop, toaster, kettle & basic kitchen items. The king size bed has a Tempur topper and is guaranteed to give you a peaceful slumber. The Studio has a private courtyard, a smart TV, and plenty of books & magazines. Perfect for a simple, quiet break from town, the tiny village of Cobaki (Kob- a- kai) is a hidden gem tucked in the Hinterland of the Southern Gold Coast. Peaceful walking trails and quiet rural charm await you at The Studio. You can help yourself to seasonal herbs and vegetables straight from the garden, and fresh eggs from The Five Ladies. The Studio runs exclusively on collected rainwater, so water conservation is important. There are also some resident geckos who keep the bugs at bay. (n.b. the bathtub is fully functional for the shower but not functional as a ‘bath’.) Although Cobaki Cottage & The Studio sit on a tiny property , we are surrounded by cattle paddocks. Our little kitchen garden and bbq shack are currently under expansion to provide extra space for guests. 'The Studio' is located right next to 'Cobaki Cottage', and we are often on hand early morning or in the late afternoon should guests have questions. We do respect our guests’ privacy and tend to keep a distance. Otherwise we are contactable by text (or messenger), and we are always happy to help. The village of Cobaki (kob- a- kai) is rural, with cattle farms and equestrian properties surrounded by thick green bushland on the hillsides. A lovely half hour walk over the hill will bring you into the Piggabeen Valley, which hosts markets at the local community hall on the first and third Sundays of the month. For local dining I can highly recommend The Oyster Shed ( 5 mins) or Potager (15 mins) and many others listed in our guidebook onsite. Menulog lists a couple of our fabulous local restaurants who will deliver if you don’t want to venture out. You will need a car, and your park is directly in front of 'The Studio'. There is space for a trailer/boat to park as well. We are a 10 minute drive from shops, but once you are here you can explore the predominantly flat Cobaki Road, or go walking over the dirt track hill, as many of the locals do! To the North, the hubbub of Surfers Paradise is a 40 minute drive, Burleigh Heads 20 minutes, and stunning Currumbin beach & The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary 15 minutes drive. To the South is Husk Distillery at Tumbulgum (20 minutes), trendy Brunswick Heads & Bangalow (30 minutes) and Byron Bay is 35 minutes drive. Cobaki is just over the border from Qld in Northern NSW. (Refer to the map). Optus phones may have issues with coverage, but coverage can be accessed up the hill if necessary and 5 min drive back out of the valley. Telstra reception is fine.
