Waterfront Adirondack Home on pond near Long Lake

Rustic waterfront 3-4 bedroom home sleeps up to 8, on tranquil 14 acre motor-free pond in town of Long Lake. 2nd floor master bedroom suite & sitting area. Nearby hiking trails; access to Lake Eaton by short walk or drive; about a mile walk or drive to Long Lake's amazing public waterfront; one mile to village center. Easy access for persons with limited mobility. WIFI, TV. Verizon, AT&T and landline US phone service. Ample parking; enough room for boat and trailer (for use in nearby lakes -- no motorboats in the pond). Swim, kayak or canoe in the pond (bring your own kayak/canoe). See the end of this section for details on swimming in the pond. Fire pit down by pond. If you forgot a book, we have 100s! Our den is filled with books and puzzles. There is a coffee maker (purchased in 2021) Plenty of filters, You will need to bring your own coffee. Or purchase locally. There is a propane grill on the deck. Please clean after use. Our house is in the woods. Animals were here first. Swimming in the pond (at your own risk of course) is nice. Considerations: - the pond water is clear and beautiful - the entrance from the shore is muddy (the water itself is clear, but the bottom at the shore is muddy) - there is a wooden walk that stretches from the shore out into the pond about 20 feet (distance is a guess) to a small platform perpendicular to the walk - a big rock abuts the platform on the platform's far side from the shore - you can see these things in one of the pictures - there is a wooden ladder near where the walk meets the platform that you can use to get into the water (thus avoiding mud); I'm guessing the water is waist-deep at that point - (or enter the pond from the shore if you don't mind the mud or have water shoes/sandals) Guests have access to the full home and property, save for one closet and the outdoor shed. Full access to waterfront and pond. We will not be in Long Lake during your stay. Our caretaker lives nearby and is accessible and responsive. We will be reachable by email, text, and phone. The house is on a dirt road and is quite private. It is separated from neighbors on either side by more than 250 feet of thick woods - you will not see other people from the property nor will you be seen. There is occasional road noise from lightly traveled Route 30, which is on the other side of the dirt road, separated from the house by 215+ feet of distance and by a few rows of trees. One guest remarked that he heard a lot of truck brakes from the road, but also said that it was not a concern to him. Another guest remarked that she heard road noise, but said that it was consistent with this description. It is nice to walk the dirt road around the pond, or over to connected Lake Eaton. It is an easy walk into the hamlet of Long Lake and the town beach (about a mile). This is the Adirondacks, so it is important to expect a rustic place. Our house has lodge-like furnishings and finish. The house does not have air conditioning. We have been very comfortable with breezes and cross ventilation. Window fans are available at the house. People who strongly prefer air conditioning may not be happy with this arrangement. In the Adirondacks in late summer and fall as it gets cool (or cold) outside mice may get into the house - not just our house, but any lodge-type house in a woodsy setting. We are very assiduous about looking for this and setting traps. We do our best, but if you want to be sure that this will not happen, you probably will prefer a different place. Normally, we leave sheets and blankets out so that guests can make their own beds, allowing guests to choose which bedrooms to use. If you would like the beds already made when you arrive, please let us know 3 days in advance which bedrooms you will be using. Portable dishwasher connects by hose to the kitchen sink faucet.
