Spacious modern renovated farmhouse
Our place is good for couples, families with kids or business travellers. The house is a large 1875 farmhouse in a quiet Languedoc village. If you fancy somewhere to relax or entertain with plenty of outdoor activities for all seasons and wonderful local cuisine, look no further! Perfect for walking, cycling / mountain biking, swimming in lakes and rivers, paragliding, skiing, horse riding, fishing, and mushroom picking. Our recently renovated farmhouse has a large, open-plan ground floor living room/dining room/kitchen, spread over both the original living area and the barn for animals, which can be seen by many remaining features. A huge open fire and large comfy sofas set in the living room provide the ultimate space for cosy evenings in, whilst central heating including underfloor heating ensure the whole house is warm in the cooler months. Up on the 1st floor is a second sitting area for enjoying the view and reading, and access to the large private garden at the rear of the property where you can enjoy dining or sunbathing, overlooking the Margeride mountains. All three spacious bedrooms are en suite. One is the original bedroom and has its own shower room and separate wc. The second bedroom is split-level, with a dressing room and large ensuite luxury bath and shower room (again with a separate wc). The third bedroom on the 2nd floor is accessed via a bridge overlooking the whole of the interior, again with en suite shower/wc room. The first and second bedrooms have double beds. The third currently has a sofa bed and is ideal for children (NB the house does not have stairgates for children). You will be able to enjoy the whole house. A neighbour will check you in and out. Activities: (see photos) Endless walks and mountain biking trails are accessible from the house. It is possible to rent all cycling equipment in Saint-Chély-d'Apcher. There is a tennis court for the village. The two nearby lakes are the Lac du Moulinet and the Lac de Gabarit, which both offer a number of water sport activities. It is possible to swim in the Tuyère river in most areas. We have a number of horse riding schools offering a range of options from a couple of hours to a 2/3 day trips. They cater for most ages and beginners to advanced. Local food: You have wonderful local restaurants serving regional favourites ranging from "saucisse aligot" to "la pachade". Restaurants menus typically range from 14 Euros for a lunchtime menu (3 courses, wine, and coffee included) to 20/40 Euros for traditional cuisine in the evening. There is also a Michelin star restaurant in Aumont-Aubrac - Chez Camillou. The farmhouse is set in a quiet village location with towns nearby. The medieval town of Le Malzieu-Ville and Saint-Chély-d'Apcher are both a 10 minutes drive from the house. The town of Saint-Chély-d'Apcher has two local supermarkets, and a variety of local shops in the high street. The town of La Garde, a 5 minutes drive, has a bakery, a local shop for essentials, and a bar/tabac. Both Le Malzieu-Ville and Saint-Chély-d'Apcher host a farmers market every week during the year from 8:00am to 1:00pm on the Tuesday and Thursday respectively. All activities are under a 30 minutes drive from the house apart from the skiing that is approximately 50 minutes and the paragliding, 40 minutes. There is wood available for the inglenook fireplace; perfect for relaxing after a full day skiing or walking in the mountains. (N.B. during the winter months, an additional charge of £15 is added per day to cover the wood for the fire and the fuel to heat the house. This may apply if it is cooler in the Autumn and Spring also).
