Deer Park cottage is situated within the private estate garden and is surrounded by the deer park. It is the most secluded of cottages and offers a very private and natural hideaway. Powered by wood pellet boiler and on its own water system supplied from the Ochills you can feel completely at one with nature. On occasions you can wake up to deer grazing within feet of your bedroom window and be lulled to sleep by the hooting of owls or wind blowing through the trees. The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen with plenty of pots & pans, coffee machine (cookworks, not a pod machine) microwave, kettle, oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher and all the utensils you should require for cooking and creating meals. There are two seating areas for enjoying meals, either on stools round a small table in the kitchen or round a larger dinning room table in the adjoining morning room which has a log burner. The king size bedroom is located downstairs next to the sitting room. There is a shower room with W/C located next to the kitchen. Upstairs a small landing separates two further bedrooms, a twin with en-suite and a single bedroom. The cottage also has washing facilities with a washer dryer, iron and ironing board. The garden can be accessed via two doors, one leading from the kitchen and the main front door that had a porch lobby for leaving muddy boots and coats. The cottage has internet Wi-Fi and a television with DVD player in the sitting room. There is also another log burning stove in the sitting room. * We do accept dogs, however an extra of £5/day per dog is required on arrival. We kindly ask that dogs are not taken into bedrooms or upstairs, and that all garden areas are checked for any mess prior to departure. Due to the position of this cottage it is essential your dog does not chase or bark at livestock. * A working deer farm has many different stages to the year. During the winter months and early spring the deer are kept in the field near the house. Every morning the feeding takes place which can be a lovely sight as the tractor offloads their morning meal and they all line up to feed. The tractor then has to drive past deer park cottage on its way back to the farm. After heavy rain it is highly likely the roads and fields can get quite muddy! During the early spring we take the deer off the field by the cottage to help allow the grass to recover. The deer then return to graze and rut in the field in the late summer and Autumn. During the rut you can hear the stags roaring as the rut gets into full swing around late September and into November. * Please note there is no guarantee to the deer activity during your stay as farming the land can change on a weekly basis, therefore the deer may not be in the field and the feeding may not be taking place. * The kitchen has basic supplies including ingredients you may need for cooking. * Guests staying with young children please be aware that there is no stair gate and the master bedroom is downstairs while the twin and single rooms are upstairs. If you would like you can request to sleep upstairs in the twin room to be close to very young children, the twin room actually has the best views but low ceilings! *Please when booking could you let us know your children’s ages in a quick message, this helps us prepare and we can arrange for toys and books to be left out for little ones. * We also have another cottage on Harviestoun Estate called Angus Cottage, this sleeps 4 people in a king and twin room and provides a very cosy hideaway with views both down the valley and up the hill. * COVID-19 update: We will be operating as usual once lockdown is lifted and following COVID-19 cleaning guidelines. All our touchable surfaces will be disinfected and all houses are aired and cleaned carefully between guests. * Resident wood pigeon! A lovely lady has taken residence in the wood store during lockdown and built a beautiful nest which has two eggs. We hope once lockdown is lifted and the cottage becomes busy again she will have two healthy chicks to wave off! - July update: she did successfully hatch out her chicks and they've all flown the nest! Finally..... Deerpark cottage is situated on a private estate up a private farm road. This road is not tarmac, it is a dirt track road and can have quite large pot holes and dips. Please just be aware that if you have a very low slung car it might not appreciate the road!! Guests have access to the entire house and garden. The host lives on the estate and is available throughout your stay. Deerpark cottage is located within the private garden of the estate house, however has its own private, secluded garden. For this reason, details and directions can be found once a booking is confirmed and prior to check in, in the ‘post booking details section. On booking please provide details about yourselves and the trip involved as all our guests are welcomed as friends not strangers! The picturesque town of Dollar is available within a good 30minute walk or a short car journey. Dollar offers a fantastic butchers, Coffee shop, Art gallery, Delicatessens, co-op supermarket and Restaurant and bar. Plenty of local attractions such as Castle Campbell, Stirling Castle, The Wallace Monument, The Kelpies and the Japanese Gardens are within easy reach. Dollar also has a dental practice, pharmacy, optometrists and doctors surgery. For yoga & pilates lovers there are drop in classes that run throughout the week. The cottage is accessed via a private farm road which is not tarmacked. Occasionally after heavy rainfall large potholes can appear in the road making the road surface uneven. Small low bottomed vehicles may dislike the road, however it is always passable. * This is a non smoking property * We do allow dogs but we ask you to consider this carefully with the nature of your dog. As you are within the Deerpark is it essential that your dog does not bark or chase livestock. An extra charge of £5/day per dog is payable on arrival. * Access to the cottage is via a rough dirt track road that can at times be very muddy and have pot holes.
