Moulin de la Fosse Gites - Cottage 1

A great location for holidays in the Charente-Maritime. Cottage 1 is ideal for 2 people, but can sleep up to 4 guests. Self-catering, well equipped cottage in a converted barn situated on a large riverbank property that once operated as a flour mill from 1855 to 1968. Ideal for people who love wildlife and enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking and cycling. You can relax and enjoy the quiet picturesque grounds of the Mill, whilst taking in the history and beauty of the surrounding areas. The living room and kitchen are located on the ground floor. The two bedrooms, bathroom and toilet are located on the first level accessible by stairs only. There is also an outdoor table and chairs setting with parasol for your personal use at the entrance of the cottage. It's ideal for cycling and kayaking, with bikes and kayaks available free of charge. The large garden areas and riverbank picnic benches are available for your enjoyment. Barbecues are available for your use. The Boutonne, a wonderful First Category fishing river, is right on your doorstep. Free parking is available at the entrance to the property. I live on the property in a separate house. I'm always available to share information or provide assistance if required. Dampierre-sur-Boutonne The historical 16th century Château de Dampierre-sur-Boutonne, with its moat and beautiful gardens, is only a 3 minute drive or a scenic bicycle ride or relaxing rural walk away. In 2012 the Château won an award for its wonderful restoration. Enjoy a coffee or refreshments at Le Garage à Papi, a cool cafe/bar close to the Château. Fields of sunflowers and corn surround the area, along with small villages, which are great to explore by bicycle, or walking. Further afield enjoy fresh produce markets at Loulay, Aulnay and St Jean d'Angely. Bikes and kayaks are available free of charge. We have two cottages which are next to each other. We live on the property near the cottages and have a medium sized dog that will greet you with a friendly bark.
