Bienvenue! Volet Lavande meaning Lavender Shutters, is a beautiful Bourgeoisie house situated in the rural hamlet of Puy D'Ardanne, central France. The 200 year old house and enclosed garden provides a perfect setting for an exquisite holiday. Lay by the pool or explore the wine cave, or, if you want activities, Volet Lavande will provide a perfect base for golfing, fishing, walking, bike riding, a love of history or wine. Surrounded by quiet country roads but close enough to life's essentials. The house is traditionally furnished and comfortably accommodates 6 plus a cot (on request). There are 3 large bedrooms, a fully equipped modern kitchen, a new family bathroom and a new ensuite off the master bedroom. The fully enclosed courtyard is surrounded by various outbuildings, one of which houses a games room including toys, games and a ping pong table. There is an above ground, pool with paved surrounds, sun loungers, bbq and dining table for warm summer nights and outdoor entertaining! Our friendly housekeeper Debbie Tibbey (English) will be available should you need to ask any questions or have any problems. Her contact details will be provided prior to arrival. Ideally situated with endless activities for all ages whether it is Futuroscope, Le Grand Parc (Puy De Fou), Zoo de Doue or the more traditional Parc de la Vallee, high climbing in trees, kayaking on the River Thouet, investigating the mushroom caves in Saumur as well as the many vinyards, playing golf, riding bikes, visiting chateaus or simply walking, this region has it all and Volet Lavande is the perfect base. Special interest holidays: Walking - Several detailed walks (maps available from tourist information or the collection in the house) in and around the area which vary from 8km - 37km Fishing - there is a lake at Monts sur Guenses, about 20 mins away which also has a picnic area and children's play area too! Chateaus - Fontenvraud, Saumur, Oiron, De Ternay, Chinon, Villandry to name but a few. Golf - 18 hole golf course, 6 hole beginners pitch and putt, driving range and 2 putting greens - 15 mins away. Kayaking/Canoeing - In Thouars (half an hour away), Chinon (half an hour) or Saumur. Coast/Beach - 2 hours to La Rochelle, 25 minutes to Moncontour - manmade lake with swimming, canoeing, pedalos, teleskiing and beach. We recommend that you have a car for your visit. There is undercover parking for approximately 5-6 vehicles.
