La Terrasse - A Peaceful Place in the Forest

La Terrasse is located in the Causses du Quercy Regional Park. Set in a private forest, it is a peaceful location, close to nature, but with beautiful places, such as the medieval village of St Cirq Lapopie, nearby. The property, with its oak woodland and meadows, is a haven for wildlife with numerous species of orchid, butterflies, birds and mammals. La Terrasse is one of two gites at Les Teyssonnières. Our gite occupies part of the first floor of our old barn. Comprising an open plan bedroom / sitting area with kitchenette and separate wc and shower rooms, La Terrasse is ideal for couples with its double bed, or can be configured as a twin. French doors lead onto a very large decked terrace with panoramic views over the surrounding woodland. Sun loungers, table, chairs and large parasol are included along with a barbeque. A washing machine and drying facilities are available for guests in a separate building. Access to the gite is by a private external staircase. Ample parking is provided on-site. We live on site and will be available to meet you upon your arrival and help you during your stay if necessary. Our nearest village is Concots at 2 km away. It has two excellent restaurants, L'Esprit du Causse (contemporary French cuisine) and Le Vinagrou (more traditional French food), both are very reasonably priced. Concots also has a boulangerie (bakery) selling freshly made bread and patisseries, as well as basic groceries. The village also has a post office and hosts a Sunday morning market selling local produce throughout the year. An electric vehicle charging point can be found near the tennis court. Limogne en Quercy is 9 Km to the east and has two small supermarkets, a petrol station, bank and cash machine, a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants, doctors and pharmacy. A local produce market takes place every Sunday throughout the year. Limogne is famous for its truffles and a special truffle market takes place during the winter months. Our regional administrative centre of Cahors is well worth a visit in itself with its rich architecture and heritage. Home of the 14th Century Pont Valentré, a medieval fortified stone bridge (and UNESCO World Heritage Site) crossing the River Lot. There are large markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays outside the Cathedral, along with brocantes (antique markets) at the Boulevard Léon Gambetta. There is a electric vehicle charging point 2kms away in the village of Concots. The nearest airports are Rodez (1 hr), Toulouse (1 hr 20 mins), Brive (1 hr 15 mins) Bergerac (2 hrs) and Limoges (2 hrs 20 mins). The nearest railway stations are: Lalbenque 20 Km, Cahors 30 Km.
