The Gate Lodge is a cosy Scottish cottage just a stone’s throw from the sea. With a large lawned area around the property and wonderful views over Kames Bay and the Kyles of Bute, this cottage is a favourite with individuals or couples looking for a peaceful getaway. The cottage boasts modern and comfortable accommodation with one double bedroom, washing machine, microwave, DVD player, hairdryer and free wifi. A log burner is located in the living room. The Gate Lodge is located in the small private estate of Kames Castle, nestled between Kames Bay and beautiful Scottish Countryside. This cosy self-catering cottages is one of 7 cottages located throughout 20 acres of private grounds, comprising extensive lawns, a wooded area and an 18th Century walled garden. A number of facilities are available for guest use during the summer months including a BBQ, an all-weather tennis court, small putting green, croquet and football goals - all at no extra cost. Kames Castle Estate has a property manager located on the Isle of Bute to deal with any issues or enquiries. The owners can be contacted via emails for booking enquiries. Guests are asked to take suitable care when staying at Kames, particularly those staying with children. There is an open stream that runs at the edge of the estate – please note that this has no fence surround. Our groundsman works throughout the year and often uses machinery, for example to mow lawns and chop logs. A number of areas in the grounds are marked ‘Private’ or ‘No Unauthorised Access’ – these must be strictly adhered to. Finally, in an effort to encourage wildlife into the estate, the wooded area is – as far as possible – left to grow naturally so inevitably has fallen branches, leaves and some muddy areas. We kindly ask guests to take necessary care.
