Cosy 2 Bedroom Cottage with great Wye Valley views
Take a break and unwind at this peaceful little cottage located on the edge of the Forest of Dean and the beautiful Wye Valley. In just a few minutes walkers and cyclists can be in the forest where you can find the sculpture trail or the family cycle trail. Alternatively take a trip down to the river Wye for some canoeing fun or wild swimming. From the cottage you can walk straight into the Forest of Dean and lose yourself for hours in the natural beauty of this wonderful place. After a while you might come across a sculpture, a modern day piece of art created for the forest by local artists, and pick up the trail to see them all. Some are quite stunning. For the younger adventurers there is the Gruffalo trail near Beechenhurst Lodge, you never know what you might find in the trees. Coates guests have the whole house and garden to themselves. The garden is completely contained so unless your dog or child is really determined they won’t escape. This is a real forest style cottage, and some of it’s quirky characteristics make it a challenge of people with mobility restrictions. There is a step down and two raised thresholds to get into the house and inside the stairs are steep and narrow plus the bathroom is on the ground level. There is however private parking at the cottage, with plenty of space for one car or a snug fit for two. There is a lockable shed for bikes with a hosepipe for hosing down muddy bikes or dogs. In the garden, opposite the back door, is a second gate which makes accessing the house so much easier when you’ve just walked up from the village. I am available the whole time guests are here and am more than happy to pop by should the need arise. The bins are collected on Wednesday (except after a bank holiday) so I do come over to put them out on Tuesday evening and then again to put them away on Wednesday in the day. I do not enter the house but will empty the recycling bins in the porch. I will do my best not to disturb you if you are staying here though. The laundry is done by me at my home which does have a CAT and a dog. If you are allergic to CATS please be aware that I do have one. I wash all the sheets, duvet covers, pillow cases, towels, bath mat by the sink, throws, kitchen towels, oven gloves and cleaning cloths between each guest. Everything is then steam ironed and put into bags before a turn around. All other soft furnishings, like cushions, throws and rugs I spray with anti-bacterial spray. The Rayburn is an awesome beast in the kitchen, once on it warms the whole house. It’s simple to cook with and the heating automatically comes on if the temperature drops below a certain degrees. It does make a gurgling noise at the moment which is not intrusive or loud, we are waiting for a plumber to look into this and please be aware, it does make the water very hot. The TV has live TV (if the arial is in the right place), bbc iPlayer and Freeview Play and is free to watch. In addition to that it has Netflix and Amazon Prime but you will need an account sign in to watch this.
