Puivert is a wonderful location, with a selection of good restaurants, the micro-brewery, and swimming lake in stunning scenery. Local managers live just outside of Puivert Fantastic walking, cycling, horse riding in stunning scenery all around Puivert and above Puivert on the magical Plateau du Sault, the swimming lake is a 5 minute walk which looks up to Puivert castle, one of the many Cathar castles to visit in the area, and the location for the popular Wednesday night markets. The artisan micro-brewery (set up by a British neighbour of ours) is a popular place for occasional music events. Puivert even has its own glider airfield for an experience never to be forgotten! The train station at Quillan is 20 minutes away, and some journeys from there (including a bus to Perpignan by the Med, and a train to Carcassonne) are only €1 per trip! Carcassonne airport is 1 hour. you can cycle to nearby Chalabre, or even Mirepoix for the more energetic, along an old railway line, a very scenic route.
