Welcoming Character Home near Lower Hutt Hospital

Welcome to my lovely character home in Central Lower Hutt, with secure off street parking- very close (walking distance) to public transport, Lower Hutt Hospitals, cafes, golf club, and Queensgate Mall. We are about eighteen minutes drive to the Inter-island Ferry terminal and under twenty minutes drive to central Wellington . Your stay is in a comfortable double bedroom with private bathroom, separate living room if required and includes breakfast, with gluten free options. This lovely ninety year old character house has been in my family for over fifty years. The outside has just been painted and inside it has been lovingly renovated, keeping all the character, such as the warm native timbers, original claw-foot cast iron bath and open fireplace but adding up to date essentials including gas central heating, insulation, two modern bathrooms, large kitchen with family sized table for breakfasts, and a sunny extra living room opening onto the large deck overlooking the garden. There is off street parking behind a secure electric gate. Your room has a very comfortable double bed with fresh new linen and an electric blanket. There is a large wardrobe with lots of hangers, chest of drawers, bookcase, bedside cabinets with lamps, and a full length mirror. Your bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet, and great lighting above the large mirror. Towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided and there is a hairdryer for your use. Towels and sheets will be changed weekly for longer stays. We are book lovers and guests are welcome to browse the eclectic range of books in their room as well those in the rest of the house. There is unlimited ultra fast broadband. The family living room has a large TV with Netflix. There is a second bedroom with double bed and lots of storage which may be available at times. Please enquire. You have exclusive use of your sunny double bedroom and the bathroom next door to it. You are also welcome to use the large bath in the family bathroom (by prior arrangement). The kitchen is available for you to cook meals (nothing smelly please)-please clean up after yourselves and use the dishwasher. The washing machine and dryer are available for your use. You are welcome to use the large family living room at the front of the house or the back living room (the sunroom) which opens to the deck, which, in summer, is a wonderful extra living space for us all to enjoy. You will have your own keys to come and go as you please. I am always available for advice and information about things to do and see in the Lower Hutt and Wellington area and to answer any questions you may have. I can recommend restaurants, sightseeing and places of interest to you. I am happy to leave you to your own devices and equally happy to share my time and my living space with you. I'll always be ready to have a chat about travel and about life or to share a coffee/drink. We are right opposite Lower Hutt Public Hospital and only three minutes walk from Boulcott Private Hospital. Within ten to fifteen minutes walk are many cafes, restaurants and takeaways, including the award-winning Sweet Vanilla Cafe ("Cafe of the Year 2106"- Wellington area), Janus Bakkerij and our friendly neighbourhood pub, Brew'd. For quick meals we are close (under two minutes drive) to Burger Wisconsin, Burger Fuel, Pepes Pizza, Hells Pizza, Domino's Pizza, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC and four fish and chip shops. For better meals, there are numerous Indian, Middle Eastern and Asian restaurants (all with eat-in and takeaway service) within a few minutes drive. There are three supermarkets close by, if you want to purchase food to cook for yourself. The beachside suburb of Petone is about eight minutes drive from here. This delightful suburb is heaving with cafes, restaurants (from cheap and cheerful to really high standard), pubs, boutiques, second-hand clothes-shops, antiques and junk shops. And, of course, Wellington city is less than twenty minutes drive, via the motorway from here. Our home is three minutes walk to the bus stop for buses to Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Petone, Eastbourne and Wellington. You can catch the Airport flyer (to Wellington Airport) from Queensgate Mall, which is a five minute bus ride from here. We are seven minutes walk from Epuni Railway Station and a fifteen minute walk to Waterloo Interchange, which is the main Railway Station on the Upper Hutt-Wellington line. Trains take about fifteen to twenty minutes to reach Wellington and run half-hourly and more often at peak times. There is a walkway from Wellington Railway Station directly to Westpac Stadium- so convenient for sports events and concerts! They always run extra train services when major events are on at the Stadium. We are fifteen minutes walk from central Lower Hutt and the Queensgate Mall. We are about eight minutes drive from Petone and under twenty minutes drive to Day's Bay and Eastbourne. It's about an eighteen minute drive (at off-peak times) to the Inter-Island Ferry terminal in Wellington and under twenty minutes drive to Central Wellington. Parking will not be an issue, as we have an off street park, behind an electric gate, available at all times.
