Set on the grounds of what was once 'Upper Lydbrook Railway Station' 'Halt Lodge' is a comfortable, detached, self-catering lodge for two. With gas central heating and Tru-flame electric fire to keep snug in winter. The lodge has double glazing, a stone tiled wet room, and a separate WC. There is a small kitchenette area within the open plan living space with sink, built-in fridge, microwave, single induction hob, toaster, slow cooker, and kettle. A small separate dining area with bench seating. DVD player and tv screen, (please note to play DVDs ONLY), radio, and Wireless Network using the latest BT Mesh System. The open living area has a vaulted beamed ceiling with an electric fan fitted to keep you cooler on those warmer nights. Outside space. The steps leading up to the front door of the lodge give way to a small raised decking area with comfortable oak Adirondack chairs, and room for outdoor dining. Being up in the trees makes for a private and peaceful area. Access via the main entrance gates through a driveway leading to a parking area with ample parking. Lawned garden to the front of guest house and for your sole use. Tiny Orchard where you can pick your own apples, cherries, plums & chestnuts when in season. Side gate from Lodge to river walks and the village. Garage space with own key offering secure storage for canoes, kayaks, bicycles & fishing equipment. Please ring the doorbell at the main house for any requirements, support or help as needed. The Halt is central to Wye Valley area of natural beauty and the Forest of Dean. 7 miles to Historic town of Monmouth and 6 miles to Ross on Wye. 20 miles to Gloucester Quays & shopping centre. Near to the Forest of Dean Steam Railway and Symonds Yat Rock plus a large number of visitor centres and attractions within a short drive. You can cycle, walk, hire a canoe or take a car ride to some of the breathtaking routes around Lydbrook including the valley and the Forest of Dean. The lodge is 2.5 miles from Cannop cycle centre. Canoe hire centres in Lydbrook (Part-time) and Bishopswood (2 miles towards Ross). Other attractions include Clearwell Caves, Cannop Underground Coal Mine, The Forest of Dean Steam Railway, Puzzlewood Forest (several films have been shot here), the Wye Valley, Castles, The Famous Sculpture Trail, Go Ape, Speech House, The Butterfly Centre and much more. The Dean Heritage Centre is a great place to visit in order to understand the historical background to this amazing area. The nearest airport is Bristol Airport, 44miles away.
