Streamside Storybook Cottage
Two-bedroom streamside slice of heaven located just outside the town of Margaretville, perfect for anyone looking to rest, recharge, and be reminded of the sound of their own beating heart. "Lost the smog, got my soul free, remembered that I am stardust, I am golden." This is how one recent guest described her stay at my cottage. If you're looking to unwind, take a break, hatch a new idea, find inspiration, write a series of short poems or the outline for a novel, gaze up at a night sky covered with stars, go on an incredible hike, slumber the afternoon away, read without interruption, grill stuff picked up from the farm stand down the road, or sit on the chaise lounge of my deck as the stream runs past you and and just *be,* this is the place for you. If you're seeking distractions, to see and be seen, hip restaurants and a bustling nightlife, or if the idea of a rural setting scares or bores you, this is probably *not* the place for you! The cottage comes with high-speed internet and cable TV, though I urge their limited use. You're welcome to peruse my books, dip your toes in the stream, walk the dirt road behind the cottage and survey the view from the hill it leads to, put the grill into play, and enjoy the outdoor fireplace and indoor wood stove as desired on chilly evenings. Please note that for safety purposes, there’s a security camera attached to the exterior of the cottage and directed toward the parking space at the far edge of the property. My home is your home. You'll have access to everything I have access to! Soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and razors will be available to you in the bathroom. I'm the longtime Superhost and make it my business to see that my guests are always well taken care of. While I'll likely be in Brooklyn or elsewhere during the period of your Catskills stay, I'll ensure a safe landing at--and entry to--the cottage, and will be promptly available by phone, text or email. I also have a network of friends and helpers local to Margaretville whom I can call on to assist, in the unlikely event that they're needed. What do I love about the Catskills? That it's not the Hamptons! That there's a modesty here. That there's a fragrance in the air on summer days. That the mist on our hills never fails to delight. This places teaches me to listen. You'll need a car to stay here. The cottage is a seven minute drive from downtown Margaretville, making it easy to fetch a forgotten grocery item from the Freshtown supermarket (as well as a hard copy of The New York Times if that idea appeals to you as much as it does me). Please take a look at “Jenny’s Margaretville Guide Book” (attached to this listing) for all my favorite local places to go, shop and eat.
