Country house in southern Burgundy
This old forge is located in a small, quiet hamlet. It has been carefully converted to a house with many of its 18th century features but with modern facilities to meet all comforts. It has a large garden and beautiful views of the countryside. The house has three floors. On the ground floor there is an open plan kitchen/dining area with a wood burner, a pantry, and a laundry/toilet. The lounge room has a sofa bed to accommodate people who have difficulties walking upstairs. The first floor consists of two large double bedrooms and a big family bathroom. There are two single bedrooms (or one double) and a bathroom on the top/attic floor. The house has open staircases therefore might not be suitable for small children. The key and assistance is available from our friend/neighbour. the contact details will be provided before the arrival. An additional fee of 100 euros for cleaning is expected to be paid in cash upon arrival. The house is in a small farming hamlet surrounded by hills, meadows and forests. It is a tranquil setting famous for its white Charolais cows and Romanesque village churches, some dating from the 11th century. The nearest village with a boulangerie is less two kilometres away and the market town of Charolles is 7 kilometres away with a good range of restaurants, including one of Michelin-star quality. The wine regions of the Côte-d'Or, the Mâconnais and the Beaujolais are all easily accessible as day trips. There is no public transport close by. Having a car is essential. The house has staircases that are open. Might be a worry for small children.
