Charming house in the Pyrénées

The Frog and Peach is a former hotel on the church square of Sentein, a medieval village in the middle of the French Pyrénées. Sleeping 14 people, it offers the ideal location for groups who love the mountains and the wilderness. The house is the largest self catering property in the region and therefore perfect for larger groups who want to enjoy the Pyrenees. The house sleeps 14 with 6 double-bedrooms 2 singles. There are 4 large bathrooms on the first and second floors and a small toilet downstairs. It is spacious, light and modern, with all commodities you need for a comfortable stay, including FREE high speed Wi-Fi access, dishwasher, washing machine, Hi-fi and plenty of games. An additional travel cot is available on request. You can enjoy the beautiful mountain views from private balconies, or take a stroll around the beautiful village and church square. Guests have access to the entire property. Sentein is a quiet village situated 10 minutes drive from Castillion, a larger village with a bakery, supermarket, butchers, pharmacy, bar, cute pizza restaurant, swimming pool and a small farmers’ market on Tuesday mornings. Ample parking on the church square, private balconies and many walks & cycling tracks in the vicinity, plenty of activities nearby including: - Outdoor and adventure- skiing, mountain walks, peak walks (incl. Mont Valier: 2,838 m / 9,314 ft height), bike rides, gliding, climbing, via ferrata, caving, water rafting, kayaking, canyoning, high-ropes parcours, parapenting, etc. - History- Medieval Castles and Churches, the picturesque cities of Foix and Mirepoix. - Food- many local cheeses, honey, beer, wine, ice-cream and other produces. - Children activities- Horseriding, Underground river, Animal parks, Prehistoric Park, local outdoor Swimming pools, etc - Relaxation- Spa in Bagneres de Luchon - Sports- Golf, Tennis, Horse-riding, Cycling (Tour de France stages: Col de la Core or Col d'Aspet; or off-road with many mountain bike tracks). We live in the next valley over and are available, if needed, for advice or emergencies. We can help you discover the area with lots of advice and recommendations for local food, activities and walks for all the family. The Couserans are a lost, wild and totally overlooked part of the Pyrenees. This is frontier territory, long known for smuggling and now home to bears and boar. A car is essential for your stay in Sentein. It is also a great way of getting to see all the wonderful attractions spread around Ariège! To see the local valleys on and off-road cycling offers a wonderfully peaceful way to cover a greater distance than walking. Of course in the mountains, hiking is always a great way to savour the view by foot, or hiring a horse from Sentein's very own riding school. The total space of the house is a generous 300sqm It has been renovated with high-quality materials (handmade chesnut kitchen, wooden beam attic, stipped spiral staircase, private balconies etc) and many appliances: oven, fridge, cooker, kettle, toaster, washing machine. It has central heating for Autumn and Spring. A Wi-fi connection is available. Towels and bed sheets are included.
