The house can be cold in the winter for the first few days before it heats up, if no guests have just vacated it. Although lovely in the winter, please do consider this when booking. You would have the whole of the house and gardens, there is no shared, or attached accomodation. I'm always available for recommendations prior to your stay, just drop me a line, whether it's about local attractions, local vet for any pets who need to be checked out before returning to England, amenities at the house, just let me know. The property is situated in a very peaceful rural setting, but within walking distance to the local village (20-30 minutes), which has it's own restaurant (normally open for lunch only) but unfortunately no shops. However, Tinchebray is a short 5 minute drive away where there are restaurants, bakery's, a lake and supermarket can be found. Also additional wood can be purchased for the winter months. Several great beaches are easily reached within an hour including Granville. Le Mont St Michelle is a comfortable day trip as well. Nearby Falaise is the birth place of William the conquer with its own castle. There are several nearby disused railway tracks that are great for walks or riding bikes along. There is also a velorail that is a great activity especially with children. There are many local activities, especially within the nearby Swiss Normandy park. There are lots of local attraction leaflets within the farmhouse. There are several nearby disused railway tracks that are great for walks or riding bikes along. Although this is the first listing on Airbnb, please see what previous guest have said about their stays, I've not been selective here, these are the all the submitted reviews I have received, all giving the house 5/5 stars: June 2015:As the title would suggest, the farmhouse has been restored to a very high standard whilst maintaining a quaint charm with modern facilities. The property provides a very spacious environment which is well furnished providing a luxury feel throughout. During our stay we used the accommodation as a base to travel to see local places of interest of which there are many, it is well sited as a base for this area. For those who just require a peaceful rest the accommodation is very well equipped with books, games TV DVD etc. The kitchen is equipped with just about everything required to provide the meals of your choice, during our visit we used the BBQ which was ideal for those warm peaceful evenings. The property is set in a very peaceful idyllic location providing a fantastic setting for a relaxing lounge within the ample well kept gardens. The nearest small town of Tinchebray is within a ten minute drive and provides a good choice of local shops, there is also a large supermarket with the nearest petrol station. The farmhouse provided us with a fantastic setting for our two week stay. Overall I would highly recommend this property for either a peaceful retreat or as a base for seeing the area or as we did a combination of both. Feb 2015:This is a beautiful house that has been renovated to a very high standard and, given the photos of the original building that can be found in the living room, it is an amazing transformation. The house is furnished to a high standard and is in lovely condition. The house is located in a tiny hamlet but is secluded and private. The countryside is typical for this part of Normandy, undulating and expansive with no noise or light pollution, providing amazing sunrises and sunsets and night skies (there's even a telescope to take advantage of the latter). Falaise, Tinchebray and Flers are a short drive away and have all amenities, and historic towns such as Lisieux, Bayeux and the Normandy beaches are also easily accessible by car. We don't normally post reviews of holiday houses we have stayed in but, having been back to this property twice (Oct 2014 and Feb 2015 with two more visits planned this year), and the fact that the price represents amazing value for money, we feel it has definitely earned 5* and cannot recommend it highly enough. Dec 2014:We stayed here for the first time Christmas 2013 and liked it so much we returned for New Year 2014/15. We found the cottage lovely and cozy with a plentiful supply of logs in the woodshed. The house has been well restored and kitted out, good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Plenty of garden space for the dog to run around. Locally Tinchebray is a friendly small town with boulangeries, a few bars etc. It was great to look out at the stars using the telescope. Apr 2014:We stayed at Les Trois Cheminees last year on a short break and had the most wonderful time. The weather was a bit cool in the evenings but there was enough wood in the woodshed for us to stay a whole year. The accommodation was superb and we could not have wished for anything more. Will definitely be revisiting in the near future.
