More Detailed Description of House Amenities and Area The Farmhouse This lovely old stone farmhouse is fully renovated to a high standard with everything geared up for comfortable contemporary living - from the well equipped kitchen (including a big American fridge/freezer with ice-maker/chilled water facility) and separate utility room. DVD, music-system, comfy sofas and central heating for winter. Sleeps 6 people. Floor Area is 290 m² (1 sq m approx. = 10 sq ft) Fully equipped kitchen with separate utility room. Living area with fireplace and wood burning stove. Dining area with seating for 10 people. Bedroom 1 - 1 Large Double Bed. Bedroom 2 - 1 Double Bed. Bedroom 3 - 2 Single Beds. Bathroom 1 (ensuite) with toilet, bath and shower. Bathroom 2 with toilet and shower. Downstairs toilet. Linen and towels provided. Cot and extra pull out bed for child are available. The Cottage Facing the farmhouse just across a pretty central courtyard is the cottage which has accommodation for a further 4 people. It has a spacious living room flat screen TV and kitchenette, 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom. The Cottage is included in the price quoted in this site. The house without the cottage is listed separately under Airbnb for those doing a search for up to 6 people and is priced at approximately 15% less. Pool and Garden. The private swimming pool has an aqua-alarm installed. Fencing ensures that small children can be kept out of the pool garden and within sight of the house. The garden is E, S & W facing with stunning views in all directions, particularly long to the south. There is also a terrace and ample parking. Both the garden and the central courtyard are excellent for outdoor living and eating. Reviews 2017 will be our first season letting with Airbnb. La Poujoulie has had many guests over the years which almost without exception have been very favourable. A representative sample are quoted below. The Tarn is a beautiful department of France, with fertile valleys and fields, deep gorges, wide rivers, and famous historical and fortress towns. Open air brocante markets throughout the summer months in many locations. Albi (30kms), is a lively historic city on the Tarn with its famous 13th century cathedral, Toulouse Lautrec museum. The well known and spectacular fortress towns of Cordes sur Ciel and Najac are 16kms With the charming town of St Antonin Noble Val (34Kms) The setting for the films - Charlotte Gray & The 100 Foot Journey - with its wonderful Sunday morning market. There are many other attractive towns and villages in the area - the nearest being Mirandol, (9kms) and Laguepie (12kms). There are excellent restaurants in the area and others more simple with good traditional food. The heart of the Gaillac wine district is about three quarters of an hour away with vineyards where you can taste before you buy. Entertainment and activities include Cap Decouverte - a vast leisure centre (20kms) with dry ski slope, skate park, rail toboganning, water skiing, and more. There is a first class 18 hole golf course on the river Tarn by Albi. There is also Atlantis Water Park. One of France's largest inland lakes, Lac de Pareloup near Rodez (65kms), has watersports and beaches. Nearer home about 15kms away, close to Carmaux, there is a lake where you can hire sailing dinghys and pedalos. Riding and tennis in Mirandol (9 kms). River fishing permits are readily available as is river canoeing and swimming. There is great walking from the house and in the area. You will find most day to day food (wonderful fresh bread, pastries, butcher, fruit, vegetables, small supermarkets and ATM's) at Mirandol and Laguepie. You need a car. There are also 4 bicycles at the house. Directions By Road. Driving to La Poujoulie from St Malo takes about 9 hours, allowing for stops. Brittany Ferries sail to St Malo from Portsmouth. There are a range of ferry routes to and from various destainations. The nearest motorway junction is the A68 at Albi which is 45kms away, and the nearest railway station is at Carmaux, about 20kms away. By Air. The nearest international airports are Toulouse which is 80kms away, and Rodez, 65kms away. British Airways, Easy Jet, Ryanair and others regularly fly to Toulouse and Ryanair flies to Rodez. There is car hire available at these airports. Precise and recommended directions by road and from airports will be provided at time of booking.
