Blackwood Bed and Breakfast at Sivani House
This traditional bed and breakfast combines the age old beauty of a Victorian home with modern amenities such as reverse cycle heating and cooling. It offers 2 spacious rooms with a private entrance in the centre of town.A quiet and restful home with views over looking the Lerderderg Gorge. Unfortunately the pot belly stove is out of action but any week now a new wood fire will be installed. Guests have access to 2 large rooms. They have a private entrance which opens into a warm and cosy but spacious dinning/ lounge area furnished in Victorian style. This is where a nourishing continental breakfast awaits each morning. A fridge, toaster, plunger coffee and kettle enable coffee and tea making as desired. There is no access to a kitchen nor cooking facilities. Karen will do all of the dishes- just leave them on the bar and watch the pixies work their magic. The second room is a large and beautifully decorated bedroom featuring a queen size bed (and a single bed as well if required), a new wood fire is coming soon but unfortunately the pot belly stove is out of action at the moment (as well as reverse cycle heating /cooling) and sun filled sitting area that over looks the Lerderderg Gorge. An ensuite is attached and also a large wardrobe with hangers and drawers, full length mirror and table for suitcases. Guests may also relax on the east facing front verandah which offers shade in the heat of the day as well as enjoy the north facing garden which includes a 1/4 acre block next door that is ideal for picnics or lazing away sleepy days. The outside area is still being developed/renovated but is very enjoyable as is and wheelchair accessible. The owner Karen lives on site with her young and friendly border collie called Rani. Guests are able to remain separate from the dog or interact and play with her if desired. Apart from doing all of the guest dishes, Karen is available to assist with any questions or requirements. She is able to suggests activities for those wanting to explore the local area and particularly those interested in gardening, bush walking, camping, dog walking and even gold panning. Blackwood itself is full of wonderful things to do both for able bodied people and those with more limited mobility. Karen is able to offer suggestions for activities and assist with any transport/booking enquiries. Sivani House is in the middle of the Blackwood township. It was once a bank in the gold rush days and since then has been a boarding house, restaurant and bar and more recently an antique place. It was purchased by Karen early in 2015 and has now been renovated into a lovely Bed and Breakfast. The Blackwood Pub Hotel is over the road and offers great food and entertainment and is a lovely way to spend the evening if lazing in front of the pot belly stove next to your queen size bed is not to your liking. The Blackwood Merchant café which is next to the block next door, offers delicious wholesome food that is house-made, fresh and derived from quality regional produce & producers. A delightful option for lunch or a Friday night pizza. Picnic baskets are available with advance notice (speak to Karen) if a takeaway option is preferred.
