An old cow shed, this property was rebuilt from just two outside walls to deliver spacious accommodation with electric heating providing a great countryside getaway. The hosts live on site and are pleased to welcome you to enjoy the plentiful shared outdoor space. Our dogs are friendly and will pop in through an open door to say hello. Ramblers Roost has a well equiped kitchen - including aTassimo coffee maker - a separate dining room and a large lounge laid out into two areas with French doors into the garden. The bathroom is also downstairs. Stairs go up from the living room into the twin bedroom with the door to the double bedroom off to the right. Both rooms have skylights with blackout blinds. The twin bedroom also has a window overlooking the paddock. There is electric panel heating throughout the property with towel radiators in the bathroom and kitchen. Outside is a shared garden for your enjoyment and relaxation along with a paddock for outdoor games and activities for both you and your furry family members. A BBQ and tools are provided for your use. Guests are free to come and go as they please with independent access to the Ramblers Roost. Feel welcome to sit in the garden or wander around the paddock at your leisure. Some outdoor games are provided under the stairs at Ramblers Roost. There is a drum BBQ available for your use. You can bring your own instant BBQ trays to use or we can provide these or charcoal for a small extra charge. Tools are provided and will be found in a kitchen drawer. Your hosts live on site. We will leave you to enjoy your holiday but are usuallyavailable if you have any questions. You will see us around in the shared garden. We are in a small hamlet of about 10 homes where although not in each others pockets, we are fortunate to still live in an area where neighbours look out for and help each other when we can. The nearest shop is about 2 miles away with another 4-5 miles away. The local pub is approximately 1 1/2 miles away. We are also a 10-15 minute drive away from Quantock Lakes - a popular wedding venue and 20 minutes from another wedding venue - Combe House Hotel There are at least three public footpaths right on the doorstep with one leading to the famous 'England Coast Path' walk. Turning left here you can head down to Jurassic beach at Kilve for those fossil hunters or right to Stolford Beach which is a pebble beach and normally quiet. On from here you can head to Steart Marshes - a recently reclaimed conservation area with bird hides and more walking opportunities. Ramblers Roost is a short drive from the beautiful Quantock Hills where there are many walking routes, short and long, starting from car parking areas. We are not far from the west Somerset and Exmoor coastline where there are yet more walking opportunities and popular Somerset settings like Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury Abbey are both under 20 miles away. Wookey Hole, another popular tourist destination is 35 miles away. Minehead is 20 miles in the other direction where you will find an 18 hole golf course next to Butlins and the end of the West Somerset Steam Railway line running from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. In-between us and Minehead you will find the Jurassic beach at Kilve. There are several golf courses within an hours drive, including Burnham & Berrow a high quality links course and Enmore Park a superb parkland course. We are out in the country in a small hamlet so you will need a car to get here and for any day trips as well as access to shops as there is no public transport. You will see many buses but they are all for HPC employees and contractors. Taxis are available but as they are based in town they are an expensive option. There are public footpaths next to us and many nearby. Cycling is also popular in this area. Please see the guidebooks for ideas for walks, sightseeing and eating out. Wellies advisable, especially in wet weather and for those country walks. With the darker nights a torch may be useful as we have no streetlights but plenty of sensor lights around the property. We welcome children of all ages. With the paddock gate closed the garden around the barn is secure for both children and dogs. There is however a raised open fishpond in the garden and a shallow river at the far side of the paddock which guests should be aware of. Small - medium furry friends are welcome to stay. Please check before booking.
