"The River Mountain House" or "La Maison entre Deux Rivières" is a comfortable modern villa in the eastern Pyrenees Catalan mountains, just over an hour from the Mediterranean Sea. The villa is situated at an altitude of 990m in a French National Park on a private property surrounded by two rivers and a natural pool with waterfall in the garden. "The River Mountain House" or "La Maison entre Deux Rivières" is a fully renovated mountain villa in the eastern Pyrenees Catalan mountains, just over an hour from the Mediterranean Sea . The villa is situated at an altitude of 990m in a French National Park. The villa is situated in a National Park, at an altitude of 990m, between two small river-streams which both flow on our own property.The altitude and location ensures pleasant temperatures during the hot summer months. The house has four modern and comfortable large bedrooms, each with it's own look and feel, sleeping 9 persons in total. (and when required we do have 2 baby beds and 1 child's seat available) The situation in the "Parc Natural Regional del Pirineu Català" ensures a nice and relaxing setting in a beautiful natural surrounding. The villa is during the summer season rented out as one house but can also be used as two separate holiday homes, both with their own entrances, own gardens, own patio's and own barbecue's. The house is connected to the village water system but also has it's own natural water source ensuring great tasting refreshing cold drinking-water! When you walk off of the property you find yourself surrounded with nature with numerous hiking trails and possibilities to enjoy your holidays. At walking distance you find three small lakes up in the mountains great for an afternoon or day hike. Grocery shopping can be done at the town of Prades, 13km down the road where you can find a number of supermarkets and a typical french 'centre ville' or town center with every Tuesday morning a lovely open market. The house is modern and well equipped, there are plenty of games for children, there are (small) riverstreams and swings in the garden and the house, garden and surroundings are an incredible adventure for children (best suitable from age 5 and up) Because of the distance for shopping and we have a bread-maker, an ice-cream maker and a blender available for you to use (plus cooking books on how to make your own bread, ice-cream and smoothies) Also we leave vinegar, salt, pepper and plenty of other spices available for your use. The house is up in the mountains surrounded by nature. 200 meters down the road there is a small natural camping which is run by Nele, she and her husband are local sheep farmers and she is in charge of the house when we are not around. There are always children around and Nele knows everything about the mountains and the house! The house is located in a National Park at an altitude of 990m in the middle of nature, surrounded by mountains and small riverstreams. The moment you walk of the property you have many hiking trails right at your doorstep. About 100m walking up the road there is a great spot for children (age 4+) to play in the river. The water flows over smooth stone with great little ponds and natural waterslides! They just love it! The air is fresh and the nights are cool and dark. It is amazing looking at the stars and to see the satellites and meteorites passing overhead. We have special loungepillows you can use to just lay down and watch the sky. A car is very much required! The nearest public transportation is in Prades, 13km from the village of Nohèdes. There you can find trains and buses in the direction of Font Romeu and Perpignan. The nearest airports are Perpignan, Girona, Montpellier and Carcassone where rental cars are readily available. (My personal preferences would be Perpignan and Girona) -------------------------------------------- During the summer months (July-August) we rent out the house as ONE house with FOUR bedrooms sleeping max. 9 people. During the other months not to many people require such a large house so we have made it that the house can be split into TWO independent houses with both houses having their own entrance, garden, terrace and bbq. The main house (River House) would have 2 bedrooms, sleeping max. 5 people and the smaller Mountain House apartment would have 1 main bedroom sleeping 2 people. (An additional comfortable double bedroom is available for use with either the main house or the apartment. However this room would only be accessible from the outside when added to the apartment. A bit confused? I am not surprised.
