Cool, comfortable and spacious (90m2) with fabulous open plan bedroom on the 2nd floor. A converted grange perched on a mountain in a medieval village is 16 minutes from the A6, this peaceful home makes an ideal stopover for holidays in the Alps or south of France. A spacious 1 bedroom detached house with uninterrupted countryside views. The house is the top three floors of a tall stone grange. Step into the house at street level, the 2nd floor has a spacious bedroom and bathroom, with a separate toilet. The top floor, of a small attic bedroom - is only available to guests with extra guests - please do confirm numbers with owner. Exposed wooden ceiling, original tiled floor, spacious kitchen, huge windows and a log burning stove make this mountain dwelling holiday special. The house overlooks a vineyard and has far reaching stunning countryside views. The garden is shared, and slopes down to the valley. The house has all amenities for a comfortable break in winter or summer, central heating, kitchen , spacious bathroom with underfloor heating and outdoor dining area. The house is not suitable for very young children or the elderly due to the stairs. The house is on 4 levels and the lower ground floor is an independent studio, which has its own entrance via a shared garden and is rented separately. Direct street access to house, and 1 acre shared garden. The shared 1 acre garden is set in an open field in the village of Mont St Jean, neighboring a vineyard has a variety of niches and nooks to read or sunbathe in, a walled kitchen garden, fresh herbs, an orchard and field planted with wildflowers. The owner lives nearby and will be available to assist you throughout your stay. Please contact me by sms or phone in any language if you have any practical issues during your stay. The region is peppered by numerous châteaux and historical sites notably Abbaye de Fontenay (a world UNESCO heritage site), Château de Bussy-Rabutin, Château de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois, Château de Commarin, Alésia, Château de la Rochepot, Château du Clos de Vougeot and Abbaye de Citeaux. For golf lovers the house is a 12 minute drive to Château de Chailly. The medieval villages and larger towns of Semur-en-Auxois, Flavigny-sur-Ozerin, Avallon, Beaune, Autun, Dijon, Chablis, Noyers and Vézelay, are all worthy of a visit. We are happy to help with bookings for balloon flights from either Vézelay or Beaune, with Franceballoons. Please ask Anna about the latest pop up restaurants nearby or for those with a larger budget reserve a table at any of these highly recommended restaurants, Bernard Loiseau in Saulieu, Marc Meneau in Saint-Père (Vézelay), Lameloise in Chagny, Le Chassagne in Chassagne-Montrachet and Stephane Derbord in Dijon. Car essential. Barge tours and Bicycle Hire on the Canal de Bourgogne available from the tourism office in Pouilly-en-auxois - opposite and 500 mètres to the right as you leave Super U car park. Cycle hire available locally It is worth spending a few days here to explore this beautiful region which stars on numerous gastronomic and wine routes. Mont St Jean is a sleepy medieval village in the heart of the Auxois. The village has lovely walks and only one restaurant, the Medieval, in the centre of the village. Do make a reservation if you are planning on eating out as they get rather busy during summer. Chateau Chailly, a 12 minute drive, has a beautiful golf course with a rather good restaurant that previous guests have enjoyed. Nearby are some interesting towns like Saulieu, Semur-en-Auxois and ChateauNeuf. Further afield the Morvan national park which is wonderful for walkers and the wine region of Beaune and Nuit St Georges. Mont St Jean has an active historical society and some interesting sympathetically restored buildings. You can join a guided walks during summer months. Wi -fi Car essential
