COME STAY WITH US- if you’re a single person looking for a nice bright warm room-not overly large but fitting everything in nicely. King Single bed.TV & free WIFI. Good heater, heated towel rail & electric blanket Own bathroom Share shower We provide a quick breakfast with a variety of hot drinks & cereal/toast NO cooking facilities but we will microwave for you 3 story house overlooking bustling Port Stairs Renovating slowly We would be delighted to have you stay with whether you are from New Zealand or further afield. We can offer you a single person fully contained private room. After you have finished your day visiting, working, sightseeing it is nice for our guests to sit and relax or watch your flat screen TV with a cup of plunger coffee or a cup of tea. It is only a few steps up to your private bathroom and a few more up to the shared shower with no shortage of hot water. If the weather is fine during the day you are welcome to sit on one of our decks that overlook the bustling port and expansive sea views. Taranaki is beautiful and is the 2nd most desirable place in the World to visit according to Lonely Planet. Not only are we on the Coast - we also have beautiful Mount Egmont in our back yard. Although our house does not have a view of the Mountain it can be seen from many of the streets in New Plymouth as long as it’s not shrouded in cloud. It is roughly a 45minute drive up to North Egmont Visitors Centre -walks, outstanding views to Ruapehu and food available. There are two other roads up the Mountain also - Stratford Mountain House with the Ski Field and the beautiful South Egmont Dawson Falls Lodge (I am a bit biased as back in the day I used to own it) There are many things to do in our area including: climbing Paritutu Rock walking the Coastal walkway and passing the Len Lye Wind Wand and various beaches Our award winning Te Rewa Rewa Bridge The Len Lye Centre - fabulous building A couple of great restaurants/eateries on the water down at the Port Many many more restaurants in the city and takeaways closer to home. I have put some brochures in your room. Our local beach is about 5 minutes walk - downhill. Bus stop about 2 minutes away - ask and I will send the bus timetable link. We would love to meet you one day......Jeni SUGGEST OPENING THIS SECTION The section on the Neighborhood will let you see what you can access in the immediate area. House access - the guest’s room is self contained with a small fridge and a light breakfast with hot drink making essentials. So the other rooms in the house apart from bathrooms are not generally used by guests. (As mentioned previously there are no cooking facilities.) But the decks are certainly available for guests. The guest has their own bathroom -hand basin, mirrors, hand soap, tissues & toilet paper. The guest shares the owners shower. They are welcome to use it any time during the afternoon, evening and night or we will sort out the timing for the morning showers. It has shampoo & conditioner and shower soap. Towels are in the guest bedroom. Bath mat by the shower. There is a heated towel rail in bedroom (guest switches on) for guest’s towels if required I do not go to bed before 10.30 or later and get up about 8.30 (except on weekends) so feel free to give me a shout - even at night is ok. I am always available to my guests but appreciate they need their space. Walk past two houses to the corner of the Road that runs down to the beach - cross the road and you are at the entrance to the Ngamotu Reserve where you can take a walk and if the weather is clear get a magnificent view of the Mountain and also up the Coast from between the greenery. Walk down the road a bit past the school and if you are inclined to take a bus into the city ~ the bus stop is right there. Follow the road down - to the main road and beach. Turning right at the main road takes you to the village and city. Down to the beach is about 5 minutes walk - remember you will have to walk uphill to get back. The city is about 10 Minutes drive. Moturoa Village is 5 Minutes drive or about 15 - 20 minutes walk In the area is an extremely good smorgasbord Chinese takeaway, an Indian takeaway, a Thai restaurant/takeaway, a Sports Bar, Hot Bread Kitchen, Kebabs, Fish & Chips - more than one, Dominos Pizza, Burgers - more than one. On the Waterfront are two or three very nice Restaurants. Also on the Waterfront is —Chaddys Charters - who rent out equipment, kyaks, push bikes etc and take tours out to the seal colony on the little island (that was once part of our volcano) —and the beginning of the Coastal Walkway. The Walkway runs for about 13km and you can stop off in the City at the Windwand or carry on (passing another two surfing or swimming beaches) towards the end and see the Te Rewa Rewa award winning Bridge. The walkway is New Plymouth‘s absolute treasure. There are brochures in the room regarding the many other things to see and places to visit. There is a bus stop very close to the house. Taxis are plentiful but expensive. Airport shuttle. Ask for their details. ##We are happy to do an airport pickup or delivery in our convertible for $25NZ (Cash) this is cheaper than a shuttle and more than half the price of a taxi. ##From /to the Bus Terminal it will be $10. Please advise in original message if you require one of these services. Also if you need the local bus timetable website.s NOTES FOR GUESTS..... Re Washing Machine etc: the washing machine option has not been ticked but I am happy to do a load of your washing if you are staying more than one day and are happy to have your clothes hung outside. You can use unlimited WiFi which is free. This is not to be used for watching or downloading pornographic or other objectionable materiel - this is an Airbnb ruling. At present this programme will not allow me to list my WiFi name or password so it will be given on arrival. With regards Beach Items - happy to lend towel, blanket, umbrella and boogie board - just ask.
