Nikau Hut, adventurous tranquil getaway

Take the hike over the hill top of Pepin Island and be mesmerized by the magnificent views on both sides of this incredible farm landscape. Follow the walk down and find Nikau Hut nestled amongst beautiful native bush. An ideal adventure and escape for a small family or fishermen, with plenty of fresh air and tranquil nature. Try your luck at a catch from the accessible fishing rock near the ocean, while enjoying the stunning views of Delaware Bay. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY Keep in mind that this is a hut and is a small space inside but plenty of space outdoors! What is included: - Fold out sofa bed for two - Hot water shower - unless raining for few days, solar hot water would be limited. - 2 hob gas cooker - Outdoor deck and seating area - Kitchen & cooking essentials - Bedding & towels - Tea & coffee Requirements: - Medium-hard walk 40-60 min, steep hills - Children under supervision - Sleeps 2 - Camping options available for $20 per extra person (must bring own gear) - Self-catered unless food services enquired in advance: - Grocery order: Just send us your detailed list and we will have the groceries up at the hut ready for your arrival $40 + receipt amount. - Cheese assortment platter $60 - Light breakfast, providing muesli, milk and some seasonal fruit $10pp/morning. (cheese platter and breakfast services are on hold now due to covid regulations). - Hut shop items at the hut: Proper crisps, chia sisters drinks etc. items priced. - NEW: Nelson-made Aroha chocolates, box of 6 mixed truffles or box of 4 hearts all different flavours. Order in advance because we only order on demand so they're fresh! Perfect surprise treat for someone special! You must also realize that a certain degree of fitness is required for you to be able to walk over Pepin Island as there are steep parts on the walk. Farm tour package includes: - Maximum 5 people - Dog demonstration in mustering sheep - 4WD tour around Island - Sheep shearing - Morning tea - Enquire for price If you want a lift to the hut or baggage taken over we have 4WD lift option for $60 one-way. Please message in what you would like and we'll do our best to make it work for you! We have 3 huts on the Island and they all are very private and in significant distance apart from one another. We ask that you do not explore more of the Island than what is mentioned on the map for the sake of other guests privacy in the other huts. Further explanation will be provided on arrival. We are 30 min drive from Nelson City. Cable Bay Beach is the boulder bank joining Pepin Island to the main land. The Island is private so it is peaceful and quiet for guests staying in huts. When you get to the entrance of the Island, follow the driveway up, passing over 2 cattle stops and taking the upper road after the second cattle stop. The driveway goes in a loop around our house. From there we will give you directions where to park your car and how to get to the hut. It is a private Island so parking is safe and we make sure no one without authority wanders onto the Island. Just another reminder, that it is approximately a 60 min walk with a few steep hills. You must bring: - Appropriate footwear - Food unless you've chosen to have groceries delivered - Warm clothing - Rain jacket *Nikau Hut is closed from mid August to mid October due to lambing season.
