Free Spirits Vegan Farm Sanctuary

Free Spirits is set on 8 acres & runs as a non-profit animal sanctuary home to 70 + rescued farm animals. The home is minimalist but it has the essentials. Guests stay in the hosts home, but have their own private bedroom, lounge area & bathroom. The kitchen is shared with the owner and other guests. We ask that guests eat vegan while at the sanctuary in respect of the animals. This place is best suited to those who love animals/nature, don’t mind sharing a space and value the basics in life. Free Spirits is a non-profit animal sanctuary home to many friendly rescued farm animals, including sheep, goats and pigs. It is a community Sanctuary, so there are often visitors coming and going. The Sanctuary is seen as a peaceful space, and attracts hippie types and earthy people who value nature, animals, non-conformity, self sufficiency and living free. The home is minimalist and non-materialistic but it has the basic necessities. It has limited technology and no Wi-Fi, but it does have phone reception. Be prepared: It is a working farm, so sometimes it can be messy and smell like animals. All animals are left freely and treated as part of an important ecosystem, so this means there is no harmful pest control and often spider webs in the house! The animals can sometimes be noisy and the roosters crow early in the morning. The property is also next to a train line and shared with other guests including children, both of which may also be noisy. You will know if this is the place for you, and if it is I am so excited to meet you :) - Large private bedroom with Queen bed and TV. - Large private lounge room with split system, tables and chairs, separated from kitchen with double doors. - Shared wood fire. - Large shared kitchen with microwave, oven, stove, kettle, toaster, fridge, utensils and cookware. - Private bathroom is down the hallway, very basic (toilet, shower and bath). - Second hand clothing rack available for purchase as part of our charity op shop. Wine also available for $10 - 8 acres of natural bush and paddocked property, shared between animals and fruit/vegetable/herb gardens - Large garden space with fire pit, bbq grill, rocket stove and table and chairs - Seasonal creek and three dams. - A pool and in-ground trampoline are available to use on request at my mums unit on the same property. The inside of the home is shared with myself and my partner, four cats, three rabbits and the occasional baby farm animal. Friends or other guests may also be around. I am happy to show you around the property to meet the animals or to just let you have your space - Whatever makes you comfortable :) Glenrowan has many tourist attractions based around bushranger Ned Kelly, including museums and antique shops. There are a few cafes, fish and chip shop, bakery, park and a pub. There are no supermarkets within walking distance. The closest supermarkets are a 15 minute drive. Further from the town there are many wineries, wetlands, walking tracks and national parks. The town of Glenrowan is walking distance from the house. Other towns close by within driving distance (20km) are Benalla and Wangaratta. Vegan household Strictly no dogs - This is for the comfort and peace of my own animals who have had past traumatic experiences involving dogs.
