Nature's Pace Holidays- Cabardès Gite

Our tranquil haven, set in the Lauragais countryside gives you the opportunity to embrace life at a slower pace with a more sustainable holiday. We are surrounded by fields and rolling hills which creates a natural environment that allows you time to breath, relax, connect and enjoy shared time together. We have made changes to our availability, cleaning protocols and pool access to ensure we offer safe stays. See below for more information. Peaceful tree filled grounds offering shaded hideaways, a heated shared swimming pool, children’s playground, petanque terrain and private parking. An idyllic setting with lots of space to relax, to play or to use as a base. As a result of the Coronavirus we have taken steps to ensure the safety of our guests and our family (we live on site). We are reducing the number of people on site by limiting availability for our gites. In June we are available for weekend or short stays so that we have enough time to deep clean and ventilate each gite between bookings. We have availability for longer stays in July and August, we will only have one group of up to 10 people each week in gites to give us the time to deep clean and ventilate between holidays. We have written a cleaning protocol using guidelines provided by the WHO and local tourism authorities and using products which have proved effective against the virus. We will be using alcohol based cleaners as effective but also more sustainable. We will supply all bedlinen, towels and pool towels. The bedlinen will be provided for your gite in a separate plastic cover direct from the laundry. At this point we are continually reviewing the position with the pool and will ensure access when available is safe based on the guidelines issued to us by the government and our local tourism authorities. Cabardès is perfect for a couple. There is a large double bedroom at the rear of the gite. The gite features an open plan kitchen dining and living area with doors that open out onto the lawn and. It has a small terrace to enjoy the sunshine together. You can watch the family on the trampoline with a morning coffee or head off for a walk to sample the views of the Lauragais plain stretching from the Montagne Noire to the Pyrenees. In the afternoon sit by the pool or in our gardens to read or just sit. As the evening approaches, play babyfoot or table tennis before enjoying an evening meal using the fabulous local produce from our onsite shop. After the sun has set, sit out and gaze at the stars to end the perfect day. If you are looking for something a bit more active, let us help you to explore the landscape by bike using the many on and off road options If it is culture you want there are many historical sites such as Carcassonne and Saissac or try our nearby lakes to swim, sail and picnic. Why not cycle to our local olive producer to sample their amazing oil and try some fascinating food pairings. Visit our local organic brewery to find out more about the beers and what organic beer really means. Visit Revel market which has been voted one of the best markets in France for local and organic produce. We have a large site which is all open to guests. We have made changes to ensure everything is safe. In July and August we are limiting availability to individual groups of up to 10 at to hire a combination of the gites at any one time. This will give access to all the site and pool, subject to regulations. There is plenty of space to sit and relax. We have lots of green space with gardens to sit and relax under the trees, a large wild meadow for discovering and den building. There is a children's play area. We also have our on site shop with space to sit and relax under our large barn with baby foot, table tennis and 'bar' area. This is our home so we are around to try to help you with your questions and requests to make you stay what you want it to be. We can help you with days out, restaurants, as well as organise trips to local artisan producers of beer, olive oil, cheese and other tasty things. We are located in the small village of Montmaur in Aude just over the border with the Haute-Garonne. Our gites provide a great location for a rural escape from hectic lives without having to spend hours in the car to reach us. Only 45 minutes from both Toulouse and Carcassonne airports and accessible from both the A61 motorway and the main railway line between Toulouse and the Mediterranean. The cycle path ‘la rigole du canal du Midi’ stretching from the Canal du Midi to Revel and on to Lac St Ferreol lies on the other side of the village if you are travelling by bike or by boat. We have very good road links with the A61 motorway only 15 minutes away that. We are a great base to explore the Lauragaise and beyond: • Swim, walk or sail at Lac Saint Ferreol • Explore Cathar castles • Experience Carcassonne. • A day out in Toulouse • Sample the local markets such as Revel and come back to cook the perfect supper • Cycle and walk through the undulating surrounding country side • Take a tour of an organic vineyard • Hire a bike and cycle to Castelnaudary along the Canal du Midi and try the real Cassoulet You can reach us by car, bike or train. We would like to support guests who arrive by train or by bike and will pick you and your luggage up from our nearest train station at Villefranche de Lauragais on the Toulouse to Narbonne mainline. We are only half an hour from Toulouse by train and you can put your bike on the train free of charge. Please let us know when you make your booking so that we can plan around your arrival time. Our nearest boulangerie, pharmacie, doctors and small supermarche are in the village of Labastide-d’Anjou 6km away. Our nearest town is Villefranche-de-Lauragais which has a range of independent shops, boulangeries, boucheries, bars and restaurants and a large Hyper-U supermarche. Castelnaudary is only 20 minutes in the car. The area also many food markets in the areas with a market available on most days of the week. The surrounding countryside is perfect for walking and cycling. We can help with recommendations and arrange bike hire. We are surrounded by little villages with plenty to explore and discover.
