Big Hill is rustic accomodation at its very best! Overlooking Victoria's famous Yarra Valley, our home, the separate Guest House and a second Studio available for guests, are set atop a big hill. Breathtaking views across the yarra valley to the Dandenong Ranges in the far east, and to the city skyline in the west. Early risers are often treated to ethereal visions of hot-air balloons rising through the mist-shrouded valley below, whilst on any given day it's a joy to watch majestic wedge-tailed eagles circling the thermals as they hunt for prey below. On the mezzanine level there is a view to Mount Macedon and it is also a beautiful place to watch the sunset. Big Hill studio accomodation is imbued with natural light and rusticity and grants all the comforts you'll need to feel pampered. Quality, recycled furnishings, stunning artworks and delightful treasures collected by the owners over many years bring a homely touch, whilst all the mod cons ensure your comfort and practical needs are catered to! Feel free to thoroughly explore the beautiful buildings and one-hectare, mostly native garden that have been artistically created with repurposed materials salvaged from another time and place! Perhaps relaxing with a drink and a good book by one of the ponds is more your scene or taking a stroll through the surrounding bush - hopefully encountering an echidna, possum or kangaroo! Wherever you go, numerous birds will be chirping and flitting about their day. Breakfast provisions can be provided on request with hosts with dietary requirements considered. Loretta and Hamish are your hosts and will greet you upon arrival at this secluded retreat. Privacy is important for all, but your hosts are, of course, open to engaging with guests when invited. Having lived in the area all of their lives, Loretta and Hamish can offer extensive local knowledge of where to go and what to do. Visit Big Hill if you want to go nowhere at all or if you're bursting to explore the plethora of award-winning wineries, cafes, restaurants and other attractions close by. Such as Healesville Sanctuary, TarraWarra Museum of Art, Four Pillars Gin Distillery to name a few. 50 minutes' drive from the CBD and Melbourne airport. Taxi and Uber services available, personal transportation is recommended.
