The Old Farmhouse

The building is a very old Burgundy longhouse. You can visit the cow byres but the cows gave over their places to horses a long time ago. Rural is the word to describe the spot and the speed of things. Take your time to meet the locals, fish in the stream or in the little brook, do nothing other than watch the birds. You can go for walks or even hack out if you bring your own horse (we can accommodate them – stables & turnout). Stud visits to nearby Cercy la Tour can be arranged. The accommodation is on the ground floor and consists of two bed and breakfast rooms, each for 2 people. For breakfast, there are local croissants and pastries – I could make you some bagels – and bread. If you prefer, I can make English bacon and eggs. In the evenings, there are some good restaurants round here and, in summer, there's the café at the Etang Marnant nearby. You have acces to your rooms and a sitting room. Breakfast and dinner (if you've booked it) is taken in my part of the house and, when it's fine, outside on the balcony. I like to chat and we all eat dinner together, but i tend to make myself scarce in the mornings having organised your breakfast. It's very quiet here. very rural. Shops and petrol/gas are about 20k away. There's a cinema at Luzy, tennis, swimming pool and golf at Bourbon Lancy (about a 20 minute drive). There's horse racing at Moulins sur Allier and Paray le Monial. Moulins is 40 mins away and Paray an hour. There's plenty of Roman/Gaul history about - Bibracte's an hour away and where Julius Caesar wrote his book. Not a lot. Trains run to Luzy, Decize, Moulins, Nevers. Breakfast is included. We cater for Vegetarians/Vegans.
