River Cottage

River Cottage is a typical Hungarian property that has been slightly modernised but keeps it's rural charm, it's a 5 minute walk to the river for swimming, sailing and fishing, cycling. Tiszaroff is a lovely friendly village with a post office, cash machine,several small supermarkets,clothes shops and 2 pubs one of which serves food all within a 5 minute walk. There are many places of interest nearby including Hortobage, Eger,Szilvasvared and Budapest only 90 minutes away. The entire house and garden are available for guests only. Parking is either on the property or in front of the property. All guests have access to the whole house apart from the cellar due to safety issues and the larder which is always locked. The garden is large and open for guests . There is a small seating area under the walnut tree and a patio table and chairs outside the front of the house, weather depending. There is also a summer bed in the garden. There is a bbq and a tripod and pan for open air eating the wood is in the outside toilet and free for guests to use. We will be available to meet you personally on arrival. We are available throughout guests bookings via text, email or telephone. If we are not available to greet you there is a keypad system and I will send you instructions the day before your arrival. The nearest beach resort on the Tisza lake is Abadsalok, here you can find jet ski hire etc and several restaurants. There is a lovely family pool with a small thermal bath and children’s pool at Kunhegyes. Further afield there is Berekfurdo which has a very large pool complex and plenty of decent places to eat. I highly recommend a visit to Hortobagy to see the Hungarian cowboys . I leave a large map of Hungary and leaflets about places to visit for your perusal but I’m always happy to answer any questions you may have about attractions. I suggest that people hire a car when visiting this property. Guests, please note that there are various outbuildings in the grounds of this property that are not 100% safe so please DO NOT let children play in or around these areas and we accept no responsibility for accidents in these areas, For the most part, the garden is very safe and fully fenced. There is a medium-sized supermarket in the village and several other smaller stores. There are 2 pubs with one within walking distance (5 mins) which has a limited but good menu and the food is very nice. There are regular bus services to several destinations, these link to further destinations.
