Historic cottage in rural hamlet, 6 miles Bath
Our home is a sunny, peaceful 18th cottage in a hamlet on a quiet, no-through lane 6 miles south of the historic city of Bath. The south-facing garden is idyllic in all seasons and guests can meander through the beautiful local countryside on an extensive network of public footpath. A writer and publisher, Tessa is the founder of independent publisher Barefoot Books and a mentor of emergent writers. The cottage is on three floors and has a sunny, south-facing, well-stocked garden. There are many local walks from the front door and the local village has a popular pub and an award-winning village shop and cafe. We are within easy reach of Bath, Wells, Frome. Guests need their own transport. For wild swimmers, we are a ten-minute drive from the Wild Swimming Club at Farleigh Hungerford. We believe in sustainable living and treading lightly. Breakfast is included in the price and all produce is either home-made or sourced locally from organic suppliers. Please note that we have a resident cat! You are welcome to use the open plan kitchen, dining and sitting area, from which you can also access our spacious, south-facing garden. Our home is in a quiet hamlet surrounded by pasture and woodland. It makes an excellent base for walkers and is a sanctuary for anyone who appreciates the best of what rural life has to offer. We are also close to Wild Swimming in the River Frome at Farleigh Hungerford. Our local village, Freshford, has its own train station with easy access to Bath (10 minutes), Bradford-on-Avon (10 minutes) and Bristol (30 minutes). The route south is to the historic seaside resort of Weymouth (60 mins) - a lovely daytrip.
