Finches Retreat - cosy cottage in a native garden
Finches Retreat is a cosy, private studio/cottage located on our family property on 1 acre in the historic township of Clunes. Included: QS bed, ensuite, kitchenette, fridge, microwave, coffee-maker (pods), kettle, toaster, couch, TV/Video, dining table and split system heat/cool. WiFi. Tea, coffee and continental breakfast included. Plenty of outdoor spaces to relax in, half the property is Land For Wildlife. Incredible bird life - 20+ species. 7 minute walk to the township of Clunes. Enjoy the tranquility of the garden - listen to the birds, pick some fruit, veggies or herbs, or watch the sunset over Mount Beckworth with a G&T and cheese board (BYO). Play board games, read a book or magazine, outdoor games or jigsaw puzzle - all provided for your leisure. Or, enjoy exploring the local area, the quaint township of Clunes, local markets and antique shops, wineries, brew-houses, and all the history of the Goldfields area. We are environmentally conscious and are working towards sustainable living. We have solar panels, rain water collection tanks, compost bins, solar powered external lighting and support Council recycling programs. Our aims for sustainability are to protect and nurture our environment with minimal negative impact and optimise our positive impact on our immediate and local environment. Please BYO toiletries to reduce single-use plastics and waste. Some of the things we do towards these goals are: • Composting household waste • Eliminate single use plastics • Recycling of household waste – paper, plastics, glass, metals • Reusable shopping bags for all local shopping • Growing our own fruit, vegetables and herbs as much as possible • Planting and growing Australian native species • Solar power to house and cottage • Multiple rain water tanks • Planting to encourage bees to our garden • Handmade bee baths in our garden • Reclaiming and restoring furniture where possible • Repurposing furniture, building materials, household items as much as possible • Using organic cleaning agents - where possible • Use of organic garden fertilisers and chemicals • Shopping local • Supporting local businesses You might see the resident Blue-Tongue lizards and the local wallabies, kookaburras and owls. Portacot available. Sole use of the cottage. You are welcome to enjoy all parts of the garden. We will be here to greet you and be available if you need anything, but we want you to feel at home and enjoy the peace and quiet of Finches Retreat. Clunes is Victoria's first Gold Town and Book Town. A small town with a great community! Quirky shops, local bakery and great coffee! 7 minute walk to town. 25 minutes drive to Ballarat or Maryborough. You are welcome to enjoy all areas of the garden, including the decking and BBQ. There are various chairs and tables around the garden so you can find just the right spot for you.
