Castle Rock Pretty coastal cottage in Llangrannog

Castle Rock is an elegant 1880's Ships Captains cottage perfectly situated within walking distance of Llangrannog’s Blue Flag beaches and coastal paths...The ideal size for romantic breaks and family holidays, it has one double bedroom and another with two singles, and benefits from designated off-street parking. Castle Rock is arranged over two floors and comfortably accommodates 4, with a travel cot or additional single air mattress available on request. It has a separate kitchen, dining room and cosy sitting room, with two bedrooms and a bathroom upstairs, and an additional wc on the ground floor. Relax after a day on the beach or walking the coastal path with a glass of wine, or hot chocolate and a blanket, on the bench outside and be lulled by the waterfall, Y Gerwn, which is directly opposite. The cottage also overlooks the charming gated village garden, which makes for a lovely sunny spot to read the papers, or for children to play when not down the beach. Castle Rock has a very special atmosphere. It is very cosy with oil central heating, an Everhot range cooker to keep you toasty, a log burner and understated, relaxed décor, furnished with antiques and vintage finds. It is deliberately 'low tech' and is delightfully out of range to some mobile signals. I find this absolute bliss, but for those who struggle, we now have wifi so you can remain connected! The entire cottage is available to guests, with the exception of a loft above the kitchen, accessed through a side door which is for the owners use only. On booking you will be instructed as to where to locate a key on arrival, and will be provided with contact details should you require any assistance. My sister and I are a 20 minute drive away and are on hand should you need us. Once the car is parked, you needn't drive for days. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, with the village shop, two pubs and a restaurant and cafe serving perhaps the best home made ice-cream in the world (no exaggeration)! Directly opposite the cottage is the village garden where you can sit with a cuppa and enjoy chatting to the locals. Below the terraced area is an enclosed lawn garden for public use, which overlooks the waterfall. Directly next to the cottage the lane leads up to the cliffs for a slightly more energetic walk down to Llangrannog's 'secret beach', Cilborth, perfect for avoiding the busy beach at high tide, and cliff walks to Cwmtydu and beyond to the North, or to Penbryn and beyond to the South for the more adventurous. We have two young children (3.5 and 7) who have managed various circular walks from here, and I find the walk to Cwmtydu challenging enough to be satisfied (allow up to 2.5hrs each way). The nearby Garage at Brynhofnant is very convenient for any grocery needs that can't be met by the village shop, or a little further afield are the market towns of Cardigan and Aberearon which offer shops, restaurants, galleries and supermarkets. Llangrannog hosts various festivals throughout the year and is becoming famous locally for its fabulous fireworks display. The cottage benefits from its own off-road parking space (a luxury in Llangrannog, particularly in the height of summer). There is a little shuttle bus that runs from the nearby park-and-ride field down to the beach and back. There is also the Cardi-Bach, a little local bus running the coastal road from Cardigan to New Quay. All bedding and towels are provided, however please provide your own beach towels. Cot or single blow-up sleeping bag/mattress available on request. Oil central heating. Heating and electricity included. Check-in/out strictly Fridays only. Only one small well behaved dog please. Dogs to be kept to Kitchen/Dining Rooms only and not allowed on sofa/beds.
