Property is a private self-contained one bed/lounge, kitchen/diner annexe adjoining the owners 18th century miller's cottage. Set in half an acre of mature, secluded gardens in the River Tavy valley within Dartmoor National Park. We are in the Old part of the village which has a local shop selling local produce and two old traditional Pubs selling great food and local Ales all in walking distance. Walk out onto Dartmoor from the front door, crossing the river Tavy and along country paths. Simple Shaker Style interior,light and spacious with lovely views into the garden all around. Spacious walk in shower area with power shower! Comfy King size bed. Bedlinen and towels provided. Fully equipt kitchen. Wooburner for those cosy evenings. Guests have their own parking space in driveway and private entrance into annexe and are welcome to use the large garden to relalax in. Sit outside under the glass veranda to eat meals and enjoy listening to birdsong and the babbling brook below. Sit in the garden folley or among the flowers and Dave's sculptures. Pat and Dave are available most days to help you enjoy your stay. We have a lot of local knowledge having lived here all of our lives. There is also lots of information available in the annexe with books on walking,cycling and places to visit. Lots of really nice National trust properties and Gardens in the area. Nearby Tavistock is an Ancient Stannary Town with its local Farmers market twice a month and pannier market open each day. Don't miss the Cheese Shop! In Mary Tavy we have local walks,Mining history, Great Pubs, local shop, interesting Medieval Church, Micro brewery, Farmshop. Travel by Bus is 5 minute walk away. 15 minute Safe cycle route/1 hour walk to local town of Tavistock Dave has a great interest in Art. Watercolour and sculpture. So if you fancy picking up a paint brush Dave's the man to see! We're on the sustrans cycle route but can also give advice on mountain biking routes or which cycle tracks to choose. In October time we make cider using our ancient cider press which is always fun to see and the juice tastes great.
