This house and garden is a personal love of our family. It started as a business, but ended as our best and beloved peaceful place. The garden is lovely and huge. Barnag is an authentic village in the beautiful North-Balaton area, and is a great place for relaxing and also for outdoor activities. The beaches of Balaton are 12 km away, and cultural cities as Balatonfüred or Veszprém are also within 15 km. The house is ideal for families to spend holiday together. Old house in an authentic village. We renovated the house, and beside of our inherited and carefully marketed vintage furnitures and objects, most of the built in furniture is our work. Beside the rooms, there is a huge kitchen and dining room which makes food making, and eating together an enjoyable part of the holiday. The garden has fire place, the barn has grill area, and also a huge table in the arbor for outdoor feasts. You will find a small pond in the garden, and table tennis in the barn. During your stay we can communicate on telephone, or we can help you on site through our friendly and helpful neighbours. Some examples of things to do in and around Barnag: - It is worth having a walk to study the unique architectural structure of the village (which is similar to Vöröstó) and the restored traditional houses that are protected by heritage law. - The simple, tranquil, well-balanced space of the friendly and beautiful, little Reformed church teaches moderation to its visitors. - In the monumental Catholic church you can contemplate sitting on the almost 150 year-old benches. - Behind the church the dirt road leads to one of the earliest built, beautifully restored Calvaries of Veszprém county. - There is a pleasant 3-km upward sloping path starting beside the shop towards Zádor Castle. You can enjoy a beautiful view from the top. Always keep left on the main path. - If you like flea markets there is one on Sunday mornings in Veszprém, Házgyári Road (18 kms), and on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays on Batsány Street (25 kms). -Sajkod beach in the direction of Füred is beautiful but crowded in high season (11 km). -Udvari beach is 16 kms, we usually go here -In Füred there is a large and fantastic playground. Turn downwards to the right from Road 71, it is at the end of Park Street to the right -In Füred you can go to Bodorka, Balaton Eco-tourism Visitor Centre -Veszprém, zoo - Veszprém Fricska restaurant, fresh atmosphere at a family restaurant - Balatonszőlős “kocsma” – restaurant and winery of Bortársaság (company chain selling quality wines) -Füred, Koloska valley -Nagyvázsony Castle -Geocaching containers around the Calvaries of Barnag and Vöröstó - St. Martin’s park and spring of Óbudavár, a pleasant nearby walking destination from Mencshely -The eco-tourism visitor and educational centre of Zánka organises walking tours to discover medicinal and spice herbs. -Hegyestű, geological nature trail
