Surrounded by stunning mountains and with views down to Loch Tay this stylish, comfortable garden flat is the perfect place to relax after exploring this beautiful part of the Highlands or the nearby Trossachs. The self-contained flat - part of an Edwardian house in the pretty, friendly village of Killin - has everything you need for an enjoyable stay, whether you want to relax indoors (or in the garden) or get out and about in the area. It is perfect for a couple, a single traveler, or a young family. The orangery has a comfortable sofa, an open outlook towards Loch Tay, a TV and plenty of games and books to choose from. The spacious bedroom looks out into the orangery, has a beautiful original fireplace, and there is room for a travel cot/fold out bed if required. The kitchen is well-equipped with a fridge-freezer, induction hob, microwave with oven and grill, and a dishwasher and has plenty of space for eating in. The bathroom has a shower and bath - perfect for relaxing sore muscles after a day up the mountains. Outside, you can park on the shared drive and if you arrive on your bike, you can put it in the garage which is locked at night. You can also borrow bikes to explore the local area. There’s a bench for your use where you have views down to Loch Tay, and a table and chairs for alfresco dining or a relaxing drink. The garden flat is self-contained, with its own separate entrance and also a locked adjoining door to the main house. There is parking in a private driveway. There is a large shared garden - with a few chickens in a run - with plenty of space for children to play or to find your own private spot. We will usually be here to greet guests and will be on hand next door should you like any advice on what to do in the local area. Killin is a beautiful place to stay as well as being a handy base for travelling the Highlands, the Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park. A 400m walk down the road from this base will take you to the fabulous Falls of Dochart, with a watermill to one side and a lovely country pub on the other bank. The thriving village has a number of events throughout the year - from Highland Games to running races - as well as all the amenities you may need, including a range of bars and hotels, an outdoor shop and a well-stocked Co-op. As parents of a young child we can recommend lots of family-friendly things to do, as well as good places for single travellers and couples to go. There are a number of easy walks from the village, as well as some serious climbs on the nearby mountains. You can hire a canoe from the outdoor shop to take a paddle up the loch. Or you may want a stroll through the lovely Acharn Woods and even try to get to the top of Glen Ogle with beautiful views down the glen towards Lochearnhead. You can take your mountain bike up here too. Or you may want a challenge and take the path up the steep Sron a’Chlachain behind the village to be rewarded with magnificent views of Killin nestled in front of Loch Tay and Ben Lawers. There’s a beautiful nine hole golf course at the other end of the village, and there’s plenty of fishing available. In the evenings there’s often live music to experience in the local pubs. It’s a short drive to our nearest munro, Ben Lawers, and for the less experienced, this has a nature reserve at the bottom which is worth a visit in itself. A further short drive will take you up beautiful Glen Lyon. At the other end of Loch Tay is Kenmore and then it’s not far to the bustling town of Aberfeldy, with it’s independent cinema. If you want to head west from Killin, it’s a 40 minute drive to the ski slopes at Glen Coe. There are plenty of cycle routes in the area - with national route 7 running past Killin and along the south side of Loch Tay. For most people the most practical way to get to Killin is by car. It takes around 80 mins to drive from Glasgow to Killin and around 100 mins to drive from Edinburgh. If you are travelling from London you can get the sleeper straight to Crianlarich, our nearest train station which is a 20 minute drive away. Pick-ups can be arranged. Once you’ve arrived, there’s the Ring of Breadalbane Explorer hop-on, hop-off bus service to take you round the local area, and you can borrow our bikes or hire mountain bikes in the village. Some mobile phone networks are unreliable in this area so it is best to plan the journey to the house ahead, rather than leave it until you get to Killin to put the address in your phone.
