Spittal is the former farm house, it sits at the front of a farm yard development. The house it’s self dates back to 1702. There are 2 private gardens and 3 large communal areas. There is also parking for 2 cars and a visitor parking bay. Spittal sits just outside the market town of Wigton which is about a 15 min walk A warm Cumbrian welcome awaits you at our grade 2 listed farm house. It has an idyllic setting with private and communal gardens sitting in open country side. Situated on the outside skirts of the market town of Wigton, home town of Sir Melvyn Bragg. Spittal Farm is the ideal location for visiting the Lake District, Scottish Borders and Hadrians wall. Anyone wanting a coastal break will find the Solway Coast just a 15 minute drive away. We are also a perfect stop gap for anyone travelling further north to Scotland or east to Northumberland. Our farm house is well equipped right down to the smallest details. After a long day sightseeing you can spend the night in front of a warm welcoming wood burning stove and a good nights sleep in a cosy comfortable bed. From relaxation, sightseeing or full on adventure it’s all on our doorstep. As you enter the front door you are welcomed by a lovely large well equipped dining kitchen area with enough seating for 6 guests. Kitchen appliances include a 4 hob stove with a single oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave. Small appliances include a kettle, toaster, Tassimo coffee machine, and a slow cooker. This flows nicely to a good size lounge with 2 large sofas set around a cosy multi fuel stove. A desk is provided for work guests and a large smart TV and Bluetooth radio/speaker provide the entertainment along with a selection of books, games and a Nintendo switch bundle. The whole ground floor has the luxury of underfloor heating. The staircase from the lounge leads to the second floor. Here you will find two double bedrooms with king size beds, built in wardrobe, drawers and bedside tables. The third room is a small but comfortable single room with hanging space and drawers. Each bedroom is heated by an electric wall heater. The bathroom is also located on this floor, this modern bathroom includes a good amount of storage cupboards, bath with over head rain shower and hand held shower, toilet and counter top sink, this room is fully tiled with underfloor heating too. We live nearby so we're always on hand to sort out any problems that may occur and we're available for contact via message or email 24/7. *Self-check in procedure will continue on all bookings until further notice. Wigton market town is a 15 minute walk or a 2 min drive. It has 3 supermarkets and independent shops. It also has a good selection of cafes, pubs, a few restaurants and takeaways. Wigton has a good bus service and train service to Carlisle and the west coast. The bus service will also take you to Cockermouth and Keswick Any guests travelling without a vehicle can be picked up at Wigton and taken to the cottage free of charge, the same arrangement can be organised on checkout. A welcome hamper is provided, this includes all your breakfast essentials such as: Tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, granola and fresh orange juice. A full English breakfast hamper sourced from local butchers can be arranged, this is chargeable and a days notice is required. Frozen readymade meals are also available but also chargeable. Please note that the property is located on a private estate just off an A road and some road noise may be heard from the two bedrooms at the front of the cottage during the day.
