Surrey Hills Shepherds Hut
Our newly built Shepherd’s Hut sits in a secluded spot in the top corner of a field, giving long views over the valley and across the Surrey Hills. It makes for a special stay in the country. 2 night minimum The hut is constructed of spruce, douglas fir and oak and is clad in traditional galvanised corrugated iron painted in dark green. Although based on the proportions and structure of a Victorian hut, our modern Shepherd’s Hut boasts contemporary creature comforts including insulation, a small wood burning stove (with kettle), a bed and a fold-down table with chair. Decorated in soothing Farrow and Ball colours, the hut uses photovoltaics to provide light and power two sockets. Includes mobile phone charger; Wi-fi signal can be picked up in the field. Maps /games /books provided! A short distance away, the compost toilet is housed in a cedar shingled roofed pine hut and to the other side of the Shepherd’s Hut sits a gas powered shower ensuring constant hot water; this is carefully screened to protect modesty but open enough to enjoy the stunning view. There is a fire-pit / barbecue outside for cooking ‘al fresco’ (charcoal can be purchased from the farm). A breakfast hamper packed with cereals, yogurt, fruit juice, home-made bread, cheese and cold meats is included in the price and will be delivered to the doorstep of the hut each morning at a time of your choosing. We are usually around should you need any tips about where to eat, the best walks etc. Alternatively, if privacy is your thing, the hut is completely secluded at the top of one our fields and we won't infringe on your space! The hut is located on our farm which is set in its own valley in the Surrey Hills and is ideally located for walking, biking and riding on the surrounding sandy heaths, chalk downland and woodland. We're close to the chocolate box village of Shere, the setting for several well known films. We love the 'shabby chic' Dabbling Duck cafe alongside the river. Unless you are happy walking / biking / riding, it's best to bring a car - nearest bus stop is 2 miles away. Gomshall station is 4 miles and Guildford station 7 miles away. Compost toilet close to shepherds hut. Gas powered powered hot water outdoor shower and cold tap close by. Breakfast hamper included - choose from our menu which includes artisan breads, cold meats, cheeses........
