The Poor House

A stables dating from 1774, converted into a 3 bedroom cottage with facilities for a comfortable stay for 6 persons. The cottage has a sitting room, dining room, fully equipped kitchen and 3 ensuite bedrooms. The cottage is set in 8 acres with gardens which is close to the shores of Lake Bala and within the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. We can provide maps, bike storage, drying room and free off road parking and also advise on attractions and outdoor activities. The cottage is within the same grounds as Abercelyn Country House. We are available to provide further information to our guests. The 8 acre garden and field are open to guests to walk around. We are available at the main house for use of our library of maps, books and board games or for advise on outdoor activities and attraction in the area. We are located less than 1 mile from the town of Bala. We are about 100 yards from the shores of Lake Bala which has canoeing, boating and fishing activities as well as swimming. We are a short walk (10 minutes) from Bala Town along a walking / cycle path separate from the main road. We are located just off the A494 which is the main route. Only 2 dogs are allowed in the cottages. Dogs are not allowed in the bedrooms or on the furniture. Dogs are not to be left alone in the cottages at any time.
