Donat is a quiet farmer village with approx. 260 inhabitants. Away from mass tourism but with a long history of hospitality you can meet the locals and their lifestyles and get around by foot, bus or car. The apartment is situated at the entrance of the village and close to the bus stop. If you’re in for a hike or sledging just step out of the door and start walking, the overwhelming nature Naturpark Beverin reveals right in front of you. Skiing-areas: Splügen, Avers, Heinzerberg (20-45min). In the living room with open kitchen you have a big round table, a sofa-couch and a oven to heat with wood. You’ll find a manual how to do so and which wood you can take from the storage in the cellar. In the sleeping room you have a spacious modern double- and a single-bed. Right at the entrance there is the washroom with toilet and shower. You can enter your apartment through the main entrance where you also find the washing machine and the dryer or directly from the street into the living room. The neighbors living upstairs are farmers and use the same entrance / and laundry - facilities. You can access your apartment, the ground floor with the entrance hall, the back exit with a little outdoor place (f.e. practical for smokers) and the cellar for fetching the wood. You can do a self-check-in or me (Andrea) or my co-host and sister (Reni) will be there at your arrival and show you around. We’ll be happy to introduce you to the neighbors and answer all the questions you’ll might have with pleasure! We are also available by phone /messages to support you during your stay. Abseits vom Massentourismuss, kommen in der wundersamen Bergwelt des Natuparks Beverin, Familien, Sportler, Naturbewusste und kulinarische Feinschmecker, allesamt auf ihre Kosten und geniessen unvergessliche Ferien und Aufenthalte. Whether it's snowshoeing, sledding, skiing or ice climbing in the winter into spring, contemplative autumn hikes for nature lovers, adventurously with the family through the famous Viamala gorge or on capricorn safari; in and around the Schamser mountain village Donat in the Val Schons, there are numerous activities to experience. In the wonderful mountain world of nature park Beverin, away from the mass tourism, families, athletes, nature lovers and culinary gourmets will all find what they are seeking and enjoy unforgettable holidays and stays. The bus (Postauto), stops in Donat and brings you to the nearby places up the mountains: Mathon, Lohn, Wergenstein and to Zillis, Andeer, Thusis, where you can do shopping as well as further south to San Berardino Pass and Bellinzona (Tessin). Coming from/getting to Chur, the biggest city and capital town of the region Graubünden you can take the train from/to Thusis. You can buy cheese, salsiz, sausages and eggs from the farmer across the street and up the road. It varies what they offer. Mostly it’s indicated and otherwise you can always knock and ask what they have. For butchery, bakery and supermarkets you need to go to Zillis, Andeer or Thusis. You also find restaurant there as well as uphill. F.e. the well known Capricorn in Wergenstein or delicious menus of the region in Mathon.
