It is self contained, a true home from home and has everything guest's need to enjoy a self catering holiday. It is located just 2 minutes walk from the center of Kritsa where there are many shops and Taverna's. The area is good for walking, beaches and exploring. Unfortunately the house is not suitable for disabled people. We are looking forward to welcoming back guest's again from April 2022 and we are delighted to have been listed as one of twelve Airbnb properties in Crete by Trips to (Website hidden by Airbnb) in April 2020. We would ask you to read the information below concerning the steps we are taking to reduce the risk of COVID19 in our property and encourage potential guest's to consider Christina's House for their stay in Kritsa. Further details of the space and amenities follow this information, thank you. IMPORTANT COVID 19 INFORMATION. Due to the current circumstances regarding COVID19, Airbnb have introduced a new Enhanced Cleaning Initiative which all hosts must sign up to. By doing this, we make sure that the house is cleaned to a high standard as always and then follow up with the additional measures below: sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknobs use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and we wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists provide extra cleaning supplies, so guest's can clean during their stay comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines With effect from 1st June 2020 we imposed at least a 24 hour time frame from when guest's leave to when new guest's arrive. This enable's us to not only clean to our usual high standard but also to apply the additional cleaning standards as mentioned above. Because of these new measures we have removed all books and game's in accordance with the guidelines provided by the Greek Government. We will provide a clean change of bed linen and towels for guest's who are staying for more than a week and ask guest's to advise us when they change linen so we can collect it from outside the house for laundering. Previously for longer staying guest's of more than a week, we would come into the house to clean and to change linen , however, due to the new guidelines from Airbnb and the Greek Government, we will enter the property only in the case of an emergency for the foreseeable future. We feel it is very important to keep our guest's safe at this time so that guest's can enjoy their stay which is why we have introduced these measures. Until further notice due to the above, we will not be able to allow a flexible check out time after 11am or check in time before 4pm, we are however happy for guest's to continue to check in at a later time if they wish. We are also not able to offer a bag drop off for guest's who arrive in the village earlier than the check in time of 4pm. We will still be very happy to help guest's in anyway we can during their stay and provide them with clear instructions for how everything works in the house on their arrival. We are also happy to recommend places to visit (in addition to our guidebook on our listing) during your stay together with a list of recommended places to visit which will be in the house on your arrival. We hope that all future guest's will understand the measures we have taken during this time and hope that these measures will encourage you to come and enjoy Christina's House and this beautiful area of Crete. The House. - Wifi speed 14mps. Christina's House can accommodate up to 4 guests plus 1 infant up to 2 years of age who can sleep in the travel cot provided. We provide bed linen for the travel cot. Kritsa is located just 9kms from the town of Aghios Nikolaos and the surrounding beaches. The local area has many places to visit and explore including the Ancient Town of Lato 4 km outside of Kritsa and Panagia Kera Church with the famous 14th century paintings just 1 km from the village. There is also the beautiful Plateau of Kathereo completely unspoilt by tourism 16 kms up in the mountains and the Gorge of Kritsa just a short 10 minute walk from the house. You can also enjoy beautiful walks through the olive groves and countryside around Kritsa and Kroustas Pine Bee Forest is just a short drive away. We provide details on some of our favorite walk's for our guest's to enjoy. Kritsa is only 9 kms from Aghios Nikolaos and the sea where there are many beautiful beaches to enjoy and also only 24kms from Spinalonga Island, the famous former leper island where if you wish to visit, boats are available from Aghios Nikolaos, Elounda or Plaka. The house is finished to a very high standard whilst retaining many of it's original features. We have furnished the house with personal items that give our guest's the feeling of being at home which we believe is important. Many of our guest's have commented on the relaxed feel the house provides. The roof terrace is ideal for enjoying meals and relaxing whilst looking over olive groves and mountains and is planted out with a variety of Mediterranean plants for privacy. The house has two bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded room. There is also a travel cot suitable for babies and infants up to 2 years of age. For parties of two people who require the twin bedded room rather than the double or would prefer both bedrooms, please let us know in advance so the required bedrooms can be prepared before your arrival. The house is available all year round and is heated via the air conditioning units in the living room and bedrooms with an electric panel radiator in the bathroom. There is also a wood burning stove in the living room for those cooler nights. If required, we will light it so the house is warm on your return from a day out exploring. A small charge will be made for logs as we have to buy our wood. We are unable to provide books to read or guide books due to COVID19 but we have provided suggestions of places to visit during your stay and we are available most of the time to give any further advice if we can. The house has free wi-fi connection (speed 14mps) and free air conditioning. Toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, paper napkins, washing powder, fabric softener and washing up liquid are also provided. We also supply free tea, coffee, milk, jams, honey, butter and bread for your breakfast on the first morning. There is also a free bottle of water for when you arrive. We are happy to do any food shopping for you before your arrival and will ask you to message us with a list and you can pay us upon arrival or the following day. This can be helpful if you are arriving late in the evening or on a Saturday or Sunday as many supermarkets still remain closed on Sunday's. In addition to the travel cot, we also have two stair gates, a high chair and a booster seat that both fit onto normal dining chair's for younger Children. There is a free parking space outside the property suitable for a small to medium size car, any bigger vehicles are able to park approximately 100 meters up the road for free. All guest's are able to unload luggage and shopping outside the house. All our neighbours are Greek and very friendly so you will be able to experience living in a traditional Greek village among the local people. Apart from the various shops in the village, local merchants visit the village daily selling fresh fish, fruit and vegetables. You will soon know which ones sell the best by observing the ones that our neighbours buy from. Kritsa also has many beautiful shops selling quality local product's including the award winning Kritsa Olive Oil, fashion, ceramics, jewelry, glassware (made in the village) and leather goods. We are here as hosts to make sure that our guest's enjoy their stay and we will do our best to assist you in anyway we can. We live next door so are available most times during the day and evening. Because of this late arrivals and early departures are not a problem for us. As the property is self contained, guest's are able to come and go as they please and we hope treat the house as a home from home. Check in time will be from 4.00pm Check out time 11.00am Due to COVID19, we are unable to be flexible with our checking out time after 11am and checking in time before 4pm. We are however happy to continue to welcome guest's arriving after 4pm if they wish. PLEASE NOTE THE HOUSE HAS STEEP STAIRS SO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR PEOPLE WITH WALKING DIFFICULTIES OR DISABLED PEOPLE. We live next door so will be available for our guest's on a daily basis to make sure their stay is enjoyable and stress free. Upon arrival, we will spend a short time with guests showing them the house and how to use the appliances in the kitchen and the air conditioning / heating units. A detailed list will be left with guests also explaining this. We have put together a list of suggested places to visit (which will be in the house upon your arrival) as well as the Guidebook shown on this listing. We are more than happy to chat about the area and give guests any information of places we haven't mentioned if we can. We have a number of business cards in the house of places we like to eat both in Kritsa and Aghios Nikolaos which we are more than happy to discuss with guests. There are so many good restaurants in the area, too many to mention in our listing. The House is located at the end of an alleyway approximately 10 meters off the road to Kroustas. All our neighbours are Greek and very friendly and live a very simple life tending to their land during the mornings and then sitting outside relaxing in the afternoons and into the evening. From the house you are able to explore the rest of this lovely quaint village which is only a short 2 minute walk from the area where the shops, tavernas and cafe's are. There is a good local bus service to Aghios Nikolaos and taxis. There is also a good choice of car hire firms in Aghios Nikolaos. We are more than happy to help with the hiring of a car prior or during your stay and arrange for a taxi if required. During the winter months the bus's to and from Kritsa are not as regular as the summer months. From November to the beginning of April, many of the shops close with just the supermarkets, bakery, butcher and chemist remaining open through the winter months. This also applies to the many terverna's and cafe's with only one taverna open for food and four cafe's open all year round. There are however a variety of cafe's, restaurants and shops in Aghios Nikolaos that remain open all year round.
