Tiny House In the City

Welcome to our tiny home! In 2019 my husband and I set out to renovate this old pool house into a self-sustainable apartment or tiny home. As you can imagine… things did not turn out the way we intended and construction was completed in the fall of 2020! We are thrilled to open up a part of our lives and our home to you! The amenities are not lacking within the space and we know you will feel at home! Our home is different. It is small, around 270 sq feet. But you will find within that it is not lacking in amenities. Kick your feet up and relax on the bed while watching a movie. Enjoy a hot cup of coffee in morning while relaxing on our comfy couch. Make a full dinner to celebrate something special. We hope, most of all, that you feel at home in our space. You have full access to our guest house. If you would like, we can arrange for you to host guests in our backyard as well with prior notice. The dedicated work space is a moveable bar cart with two stools, since this is a tiny home it serves as your table if you choose as well. Another thing to note, is that you will need to walk through our backyard to get to the tiny home. There is a latch pull on the exterior of the fence that pulls the latch to get the gate open, this is to the left of our driveway. **Please note: This is an old pool house, but there is no longer a pool on the premises. We do live on the shared property. Currently you will walk through our backyard to get to the front door of the home. We are usually home and willing to chat, don’t be afraid to come on over to the main house. If you don’t like interaction while traveling, we also respect that! We live in a quiet suburb tucked behind the Michigan Special Olympics Facility. Some days you‘ll see soccer players practicing on the field across from our home, you may see a special olympics event, or even a marching band practicing as they march through our street! Enjoy year round activities in the greater Grand Rapids area. The summer is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing or other water sports. The fall is a great time to see the beauty of the change of seasons, apple picking, hay rides, pumpkin patches and of course fresh apple cider. The winter is a great time to experience a frozen Lake Michigan that you can walk out onto and visit with family. At the end of winter we love to celebrate spring with Tulip Time in Holland. We are less than 5 minutes from 131 and M6. Our home is about 15 minutes from down town Grand Rapids. Metro Health Hospital is less than 10 minutes away. There are two shopping malls within 20 minutes from our home. Tanger outlets is less than 10 minutes away. Lake Michigan is about 30 minutes west of us, depending on traffic. There are a couple of ski spots within 30-60 minutes of us as well. If you have any questions about what’s around to do, just ask. We both have lived and grown up in the Grand Rapids area most of our lives. We love to share our favorite spots to enjoy You can get most places in the greater Grand Rapids area from our home in 30 minutes or less! Parking is on the street to the left of our driveway, we don’t have a curb, so we just ask that you try to stay off the grass with your vehicle. Our family of 6 lives on the shared property. Amy is a stay at home mom who homeschools, so they are around during much of the day. There is also a large grey tabby cat, named Rupert, who lives in the main house, he is harmless and very friendly.
