The Dovecote is a lovely loft apartment on the first floor of a Cotswolds stone barn - perfect for a romantic couple or for a family of four.Children absolutely love the twinkling LED lights set into the ceiling and the stunning views of the garden. There is a double bed and two single beds in an open plan space. The 18th Century Cotswold stone farmhouse is furnished throughout with a fascinating collection of French brocante, English chintz and antique textiles - much of which is also for sale.The Dovecote is within walking distance of Castle Combe - one of the most famous villages in the Cotswolds. Chippenham station is 6 miles from the property and there is a direct line to London Paddington.Stonehenge,Bath Spa,Avebury and Badminton - famous for the Horse Trials are all within the immediate area. The charming dining room in Fosse Farmhouse B&B next door is fully licensed and offers a Menu du Jour supper of three courses with coffee for £35 pp - by advance registration only (48 hours minimum). Vegetarian dishes on request. Freshly baked scones with clotted cream and jam are served in the garden throughout the summer. We can also offer a Full English Breakfast served in the adjacent Farmhouse B&B by advance reservation at £12.00 per person. Children and babies welcome. The Dovecote sleeps 2 plus 2. It is a studio/loft apartment with vaulted ceiling solid oak floors and designer lighting effects. Exterior stone steps leading to: Entrance lobby with fitted cupboard. Door through to spacious open plan studio with fully fitted kitchen, granite worktops, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave oven. Living/dining area with table, chairs, TV,DVD,CD and WiFi. Sleeping area with double bed two single beds and fitted wardrobes. Separate bathroom with bath, shower, basin, WC and washing machine. Central heating throughout. Juliet balcony overlooking gardens and countryside beyond. Communal gardens with barbeque and boules. No pets allowed. We are located only one and a half hours from London in the North Cotswolds area of outstanding natural beauty. Bath and Bristol are 20 minutes by car. Stonehenge and Avebury 40 minutes Free WiFi. There is a shared garden with a BBQ.Private off road secure parking. Secure storage for bicycles. The Dovecote is adjacent to Fosse Farmhouse B&B so you can pop in for a delicious cream tea or order an English Breakfast until 10am daily freshly cooked in the Farmhouse kitchen. The Dovecote is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty within walking distance of Castle Combe - one of the most beautiful villages in England!Bath Spa is a 20 minute drive away.When visiting Bath you must try bathing in the natural hot mineral springs which are unique in England. Stonehenge and Avebury are 45 minutes. There are several walking paths from the property and the oldest Roman Road in England 'The Fosse Way' runs beside the Farmhouse.Badminton village is only 10 minutes drive away. Famous for the place where Badminton was first played it is also an equestrian center most famously known for The Badminton Horse Trials that are held during May annually. Tetbury,Malmesbury,Corsham and Lacock are all located nearby and well worth a visit. If motor racing is what you enjoy then Castle Combe Race Circuit has race meetings throughout the summer months. The popular Wedding venues of Grittleton House, The Manor House Hotel and Euridge Manor are all located nearby and the Dovecote provides an ideal guest accommodation. The best advice would be to hire a car and drive around the local area as there is so much to see and do. There is Enterprise car hire office next to Chippenham station. Public transport is available from Chippenham station by bus to Castle Combe. There is a public footpath to The Dovecote however it is advisable not to carry luggage as it is quite muddy! Let me know if you do want to use the foot path and I will email a map to help locate us. As we are located on The oldest Roman road in England - why not bring your bikes and cycle? The Fosse Way is 2000 years old! The pretty market town of Bradford on Avon has a bike hire shop if you would rather rent bikes. There is a post office and stores in the village of Nettleton within walking distance of the Dovecote. Basic provisions can be found here however for a bigger food shop you will need to visit Allington Farm Shop which supplies all local produce to Chippenham and the surrounding area. There are two pubs in Castle Combe which are within walking distance 'The Castle Inn' and 'The White Hart'.
