Purple Hen Country Lodge

Our tranquil 4.6 hectare property is nestled in the lower Kaimai ranges just minutes away from Katikati. The self-contained farm style apartment has its own private access. It is up a flight of stairs and can accommodate up to 6 people in 3 bedrooms and has a lounge, dining area and kitchenette. Pukeko Room - Queen 4 Poster bed and own ensuite bathroom (with shower and toilet). Tui Room - King bed with own ensuite bathroom (shower and toilet). Kiwi Room - 2 single beds which can Cook your own pizza in the wood-fired pizza oven. Gas barbecue available also for outdoor cooking. Seasonal fruit and vegetables from our garden and free range eggs from our chickens, available on request. Plenty of room to explore on our 5 hectare property, maps provided on request. Pool table, books, jigsaws, TV, DVD's and board games are available. We give our guests space but are available when needed. Reception hours are between 8am and 10am and between 5pm and 7pm. We can be contacted by mobile phone if needed during the day. We are usually at home, working on the orchard. Wharawhara Road walking track access to Kaimai mountain ranges at the top of our road for longer tramps or short bush walks. Waterholes and waterfalls are waiting to be discovered. Friday night Farmers Market. There is no bus service in Wharawhara Road. A car would be useful during your stay. A bus service runs to Tauranga and Auckland from the centre of Katikati. We can pick you up by prior arrangement.
