The Shelter - The Stone Mansion

It's the best time of the year to experience staying atop a small hill in the stone house with green surroundings blessed with fruits, veges, purest water from the well, sounds of birds, insects, walkways & cycling paths, living close to nature & not too far from the city known for the number of good restaurants, shops, theatres, churches, temples, Ayurveda centres, Naturopathy proximity to the backwaters & boating plus some of the hill stations that can be covered in a day's trip & back. In Kottayam, our home stay would be the perfect choice in Kerala. We are able to converse freely with our guests in English, Hindi or Malayalam. This listing is ideal for you if you are a bunch of 4. We have in offer for you, 2 Bedrooms of which one holds 2 twin beds with an attached bathroom that includes a tub therein and the other bedroom has a queen bed with an attached bathroom. Our Homestay, The Shelter is close to a number of tourist attractions yet seemingly distant from all the hustle and bustle of the city, allowing you to spend a quiet and relaxed vacation. There is ample parking space too as required. Our guests have a separate entry to each of the rooms that they have booked. All the rooms are on another level of the stone house as per the natural landscape of the land. On this level, there are 3 bath-attached bedrooms for 1 to 2 people in each room of which 2 rooms have air-condition. One of the bigger rooms with AC have an extra bed therein for a child at an extra charge of Rs. 500/- per night. There is a family/ common room with a TV that our guests may use during their stay. On the same level, is also an extra room with 2 beds that can accommodate 2 extra people at an extra charge as is applicable. We also have a small kitchen with basic essentials & a washing machine that may be used at an extra charge. Both Jacob & myself live in this stone house on one level & that only helps us to ease your stay & not interfere in your space or privacy. As much as we respect & honor your privacy during your stay at The Shelter, we'd appreciate the same on the level that we live in as well & that would add to total peace & satisfaction of your stay as our guest/s & ours as your host/s :) You are free to walk around & explore into our backyard where we grow our own fruit trees & vegetables and you can see our bee boxes too around The Shelter. Jacob would be the happiest to tour you around these, explaining in detail or as you need to know. Both of us, Jacob & Alice live in The Shelter. If you are interested, we are more than happy to show you around our vegetable and bee farm and sit and chat with you but at the same time, if you want to simply be by ourself, we respect that and leave you to enjoy your own space. Our bungalow is located just 15 kilometres away from Kumarakom backwaters and is close to various local tourist attractions including Wagamon Hill Station, (70 kms away,) Allepey Backwaters (20 kms away,) various tea and rubber plantations and churches. Adjacent to our property is a Government Guest House that traces its origins back to the British Raj that is worth a visit! We organize travel as well as boating in the nearby backwaters for an additional charge. The Shelter is situated in a village structure called Mooledam near Kottayam town. State transport/private bus stands, railway station & boat jetty stand within 15 minutes drive. 75 kms to Cochin international Airport. 40 minutes drive from Kumarakom backwaters. We serve pure and natural food at The Shelter. Most of our meals are organic. They are the fruits and veges from our own little backyard farm. We also maintain a hen house and serve free range country eggs. While breakfast is included in the tariff, lunch and dinner can be served on prior request for an additional charge. The best part of our homestay is that we serve simple, good, healthy meals prepared from the organic fruits and veges procured from our own farm. We also have our own chickens who lay eggs. Therefore, enabling us to serve our guests with healthy farm fresh, free range, country eggs. While breakfast is included in the tariff, lunch and dinner can be served on prior request for an additional charge. All things here, pure and natural. In addition to all of the above mentioned, to those who'd like, we also arrange for Ayurveda massages as per the guidance of our expert Ayurveda Doctor.
