This beautiful hideaway features breathtaking views, stunning sunsets & starry nights on 24 acres of private country setting, all within 15 minutes of Mansfield. The property is in an ideal location, less than 15 minutes to Mansfield township and only 25 minutes to the entrance of Mt Buller and the Victorian snowfields. During the winter months if you let us know what time you will be arriving, we can make sure the fire is lit, the lights are on and the cottage is lovely & warm for your arrival. All you have to do is sit back and relax! The variety of animals that live on the farm are a real hit with our guests. Hand-feeding is the best way to get to know them, especially the alpacas and miniature Pygmy goats. As a miniature Pygmy stud farm we also have baby miniature Pygmy goats who love cuddles!!! Also nearby is the awe-inspiring road to the King Valley wineries-within half an hour you are at Powers Lookout which really is a sight to behold. There is also a short nature walk at the site of the lookout which guides you around boulders through well-maintained paths. There's plenty to do ...relax on the deck with a freshly brewed coffee or choose from a variety of different teas whilst reading the newspaper, a magazine or book. ...sip a wine or two and enjoy a platter on the deck overlooking the ever-changing landscape of the Mansfield Valley, surrounded by beautiful established gardens and watching the kids play in their own private garden complete with climbing rope and tyre swing. ...or enjoy a well-deserved holiday beer whilst listening to your favourite music via the Bluetooth dock, watching kangaroos and experiencing the best sunsets ever, followed by an awesome star-filled sky! ...take a beautifully scenic walk down to the cascades of the Broken River at the bottom of the block, hand-feed our pet alpacas and miniature goats whilst spotting native animals. ...or just simply snuggle up on the comfy couches in front of the cosy fireplace and be mesmerised by the magic of the flames. During the winter months: If you let us know what time you are expecting to arrive we can pre-light the fire for you before your arrival to save you time and give you a lovely warm arrival. We prefer to meet all of our guests on arrival to ensure a smooth hand-over of the property and to answer any queries you may have. The amount of interaction following is entirely up to the guest’s choice. There is lots to see & do at the property. The rural setting is such that it is constantly changing, especially with the resident animals-it is a real pleasure to sit and watch the goats & alpacas roaming around and interacting. The owners can arrange for you to help out at feeding time by hand-feeding the animals some hay or pellets-a great experience for kids and parents alike as well as a fantastic photo opportunity! At the bottom of the property is the Broken River which is a beautiful short walk to see the river and cascades-you will probably see Kangaroos on the way! And maybe lucky enough to spot a platypus! There is also a tyre swing and rope to climb for the kids in the private establish gardens. If you would like a scenic drive, half an hour away in Power's Lookout which is on the way to Whitfield and the King Valley wineries. A gorgeous well-maintained lookout over the vineyards and short bush walk to breathe in the clean country air! There is obviously also Mt Buller which is a lovely half hour drive to the entrance gate. During winter you can experience an abundance of snow and enjoy down-hill skiing, cross country skiing, snow-boarding, tobogganing, ice skating or snow-play! It is a real winter wonderland! The main town of Mansfield is a lovely 15 minute drive. It has all that you would need including two fully-stocked supermarkets, lots of cafes & restaurants, a post office and three pubs as well as lovely gift and clothing shops. There are also two great parks and a skate park for the kids! And new this year is mini-golf, a fantastic family fun activity! The district of Mansfield has lots to offer, catering for pretty much every hobby from cycling to photography to boating and fishing not to mention skiing and even a digital cinema! Kind regards, Vickie & Ed A View to a Hill There is ample parking at the property and the location is central to all that the district has to offer. Mansfield township is less than 15 minutes away with plenty of shops, cafes, bars, restaurants, parks and playgrounds as well as the well-maintained Rail Trail which is great for walking and cycling. There is also a digital cinema with all the latest release movies, brand new mini-golf and the Social Bandit Brewery is open for tastings. The nearby wineries of the King Valley are well worth a visit. Chrismont, Del Zotto and Pizzini all have cellar doors open to the public offering tastings, platters and lunches. Mt Buller is always a popular spot during the winter months. A beautifully scenic 25 minute drive gets you to the entrance gate to the Victorians snowfields, from there you can choose cross-country or downhill skiing or snowboarding as well as ice skating and tobogganing. A real winter wonderland just on the doorstep! Otherwise during the summer there are plenty of Lakes and Rivers nearby to enjoy the great outdoors-either hiking, cycling, bush walking or a spot of fishing this district has it all! During the colder months we will set the fire up in advance for guests to light if they would like us to do so. Instructions are provided to help with regulating the heat for those not already familiar with this source of heat. All linen & towels are provided. Please note that the base price is for two people sharing one bedroom. Please contact us if you require a seperate bed for the second guest (surcharge applies for second bed). Thank you for your understanding. The cottage is a great place for kids with lots of extras included. Therefore please note that infants are charged at the child rate. If excessive cleaning is required a $80 will be charged.
